Naomi net dimm doesn't work + Piforce
tried many combination and definitely the net dimm is the problem (?)
my naomi mobo + working netdimm (4.01) - success
my raspberry + working naomi and netdimm (4.01) - success
working naomi mobo + my netdimm - same s*it
since i used to netboot properly via router in the past i simply don't know what could be the problem right now since is also possible to net boot with my current firmware which is 3.03 (as shown in an youtube video)
what could be the problem?
should i definitely trush the dimm in the bin?

If it will netboot from a router on a network, then could the problem be something as simple as wrong ip addresses being used with the Pi setup?

nope
none of that, ip is correctly set naomi side to match the on used by the rasp to comunicate

Could you be more specific about the error(s)/issue(s) you're experiencing?
I just spent 2.5 hours messing around with multiple NetDIMMs, BIOSes, null PICs and a PiForce that I think I have probably ironed out most of the obvious issues.

Basically i can't netboot with raspberry with my setup
even if both rasp and netdimm have the same ip i got a connection failed error
also after a while it stay up and running with nothing to do
the naomi give me error 31 if i remember correctly now.
Once i could net boot via pc now i can't anymore.

Both devices need to have a unique IP address.@Alaska- wrote:Basically i can't netboot with raspberry with my setup

If you set your pi to 192.168.1.100
set your naomi to 192.168.1.101
and pc to 192.168.1.102
and so on.

Re: Naomi net dimm doesn't work + Piforce
on the pi you only have 4 ips to choose
192.168.1.1 to 4
that is the target ip the raspberry try to comunicate with which is needed to be set on the naomi
the ip you are referring to are to be set where, exactly?

Re: Naomi net dimm doesn't work + Piforce
Then, set the pi's (own) ip adres to 192.168.1.1 by configuring it. (lcd?)
And use test mode on the dimm/naomi to set the dimm board to 192.168.1.2
On the PI the set the target to 192.168.1.2.
Save everything. Reboot everything.
Then the setup should work. Again, as i said, each device has a unique IP adress.
Note, If you cannot configure anything on the pi, we can assume it has an IP adress in the range of 192.168.1.5 -> 192.168.1.254
Then just use test mode on the naomi to set the dimm IP using service/test buttons to 192.168.1.1
Set to static ip, not DHCP, IP 192.168.1.1, subnetmask 255.255.255.0

Dont you need a cross over cable if NOT using a router?DaveyD wrote:If it will netboot from a router on a network, then could the problem be something as simple as wrong ip addresses being used with the Pi setup?

Re: Naomi net dimm doesn't work + Piforce
I've had multiple people tell me it doesn't matter, because the ports are auto-sensing, but netbooting from a Pi never works for me without a switch in between the Pi and the DIMM, or a crossover cable.
Using a standard ethernet cable without a switch has never worked for me successfully.
