http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Rainbow_Islands
Rainbow Islands Extra is a modified version of Rainbow Islands; the game is exactly the same except the stages' enemies and bosses appear in a different order (much like Bubble Bobble's Super Mode). While layouts of the islands remain exactly the same as in the original version, they are occupied by a set of enemies from a different island. The order in which you encounter the enemies is as follows:
1.Darius Island enemies (and music) on Insect Island
2.Magical Island enemies (and music) on Combat Island
3.Dragon Island enemies on Monster Island
4.Doh Island enemies (and sound effects) on Toy Island
5.Insect Island enemies on Doh Island
6.Monster Island enemies on Robot Island
7.Toy Island enemies on Dragon Island
8.Robot Island enemies on Magical Island
9.Combat Island enemies on Darius Island
10.Bubble Island remains the same as in the original version
In addition, the bosses were made more difficult by adding more variety to their behaviour. The secret rooms are still present, but the codes they provide are incomplete. Only the first character and one other character of the codes are shown, and the other character is determined by something that players must determine through a series of complicated hints (see the Secrets page for more information). All of the title screen codes have been altered. More bonus points are awarded to players who reach the secret rooms and don't collect the permanent power-ups.
Rainbow Islands Extra was released in limited quantities in the arcade. The game was also included as a mode in the Sega Mega Drive version of Rainbow Islands. The arcade version was licensed to Romstar for North American manufacturing and distribution.

So bloody hard, and less of them about so more of the rarez

Was looking at the original Japanese one on YJ but methinks it's getting pricey.

I don't think you'd be getting bummed in the gob at anything under £200 tbh.

Re: What's it worth?
RI price has been creeping up and up in the last 2 years, it was £150 for the original game up until recently, but demand seems extremely high. It's not rare, it's just being kept hold of by people.
I expect one would sell for £200-250 easily now. I've been offered £350 for mine in the last few weeks which is way over the odds.
Extra I'd value a little lower. Rarer, yes, but it's stupidly hard. I can complete the original game losing only 2 lives, but Extra I'm lucky to get to the 7th world. Bosses are harder, enemies are tougher, permanent power ups don't work, you can't continue and some bosses are nigh on impossible with no power ups at all, so losing a life can mean game over full stop. I've seen that go from £130 right up to £300+ on eBay recently but I take crazy eBay prices with a pinch of salt.

Re: What's it worth?
There are only a few that I've paid attention to enough that they aren't complete guesses.
For your average stinky-but-working boards:
Metal Slug X - £30
Parodius - £85 (£100 or so for a nice one)
Strikers 1945 - always loads on ebay US for up to £50, maybe more like £60ish here.
Mars Matrix sale prices are all over the place. Average maybe £100.
The rest... Dunno. £50 probably.

Re: What's it worth?
£60+ for the Mr. Driller games.
I would sell you Star Trigon if you wanted to collect the Driller games - I don't like it.

Re: What's it worth?
Hi,
What would a ST-V motherboard with multiregion bios, Steep Slope Sliders and Die Hard Arcade be worth?
Carts only and bare motherboard. No artwork/manual at all.

The early Psikyo stuff has been rocketing in price recently so the above prices may be subject to review. They are fair IMVHO.Devil Soundwave wrote:What's the going rate for the following boards/carts:

Re: What's it worth?
I bought a Gunlock cartridge conversion from Arcadiabay. I thought I'd be happy with a conversion, but I wasn't. So... now I'v bought an original PCB.
I'm looking to sell the conversion, but how much can I ask for a Gunlock F3 cartridge conversion + EU motherboard, and still have a good conscience?

Re: What's it worth?
Can I get some opinions on the value of the following please? Pics of the marquees etc can be seen on this thread on UKVAC (which nobody has replied to! )
http://www.ukvac.com/forum/topic339685_post849246.html"
PCBs - all original and fully working unless noted
Bank Panic (bootleg with JAMMA adapter, plays just like the original)
Last Duel
Snow Bros
Ultra Balloon
NAOMI/Candy cab marquees
Ibara
Street Fighter III Third Strike
Street Fighter IV
Sports Jam
Condition varies - Ibara and SFIV are very good, Sports Jam is pretty rough (and probably worthless anyway) and SFIII looks OK from a distance but has a couple of issues - check out the pics on the above link.
NAOMI/Candy cab bits
Astro City control panel - has a small bit of rust at the bottom. I have no idea if the overlay is original or a repro.
Reproduction NAOMI marquee holder - in good condition.
I'd also be interested in a valuation for an original NAOMI marquee holder in good condition, as I have two marquee holders and only one NAOMI cab at the moment so don't need both!

Snow Bros about £50 - £60.
Astro City control panel - has a small bit of rust at the bottom. I have no idea if the overlay is original or a repro. - £60~ - £70~ depends on how many buttons
Reproduction NAOMI marquee holder - in good condition - £40~
Original un-cracked Naomi Marquee, about £120 last I looked.
