Looks just like my GnG boot. The roms should be marked with capcom labels, and there is no capcom logo silked on the board.
The stickers should say "V" and a number, but yours are generic. If you look at Commando, the roms should say VT: number, GnG is MM: number and so forth.
So, in short, this is a bootleg.

Boards from that era do play 100% as an original, they are 1:1 copies, sometimes with differences in RAM chips for the more expensive parts.

Vulgus doesn't have Capcom screened on the PCBs, and sometimes (example Son-Son) they didn't use silver labels either.

This one is actually a really tough call. I'd say you need to find photos of other Japanese ones to compare. Most of the photos out there are of the SNK ones released in the US (note amp fitted 90 degrees around).

You are right, and i may be wrong on the quick call there :)

Still, this is becoming very hard to judge.
- Bottom board has no "part number" where all the pics of this board on the web do show a "94602-02A" on the bottom board.
- Top board has a number, i cannot find any link to Vulgus with it.. "90523"
- Online shows pics with different dips
- I have a VT (Commando) with the exact style dips as shown in the suspect pcb

So 50-50 chances i would say.

Until i found this one in the Ebay history, i did not see the amp orientation match anywhere. Also no stickers, or sticker residu in sight. Same number on the board. No mention of original/boot anywhere. Same SHARP z80's. Seller did not state original or boot..

I think it's tricky as this is capcom's first pcb, so may not follow convention. The only pics I can find on the web seem to be the western version, which as sys11 says was distributed by snk.

I'd like to believe this is the original Japanese release, but I wasn't aware that boots from this era were 1:1 copies.

I was after one a few months ago and it goes for £100 on ebay every time.

Too much for me though. Want to sell for £50? :shifty:

I never bought my Pulstar as a bootleg, and I've had it for a long time, but that's a crappy looking label on it.
Does this look legit?

Yeah. That's a well **** label though.
Still, I have a nice Shock Box for it.
Unless I decide it's time to sell.

Just bought this piece of junk from ebay. For very cheap. Was hoping to get it to work but I can't.
Seller claims it was a Bad Dude vs. Dragon Ninja board but untested.

Looks like a bootleg doesn't it? ( Edit : added picture of the other side )

Yup that's definitely a Bad Dudes bootleg, I used to have one many years ago.

Thanks, was wondering if it truly was or not. :)

A shame it does not work.

Board came in a sorry condition and missing a ribbon cable. I replaced the cable and fixed a few broken traces due to scratches.
I only get wavy lines on the picture when I power it. No sound either but a hiss. 5V Voltage seems good across the board.
I lack a eprom reader and logic analyzer so not sure it is worth to continue troubleshooting it. Will put it in storage and maybe revisit it later. It cost me 30$ Shipped.
