Re: 'By the way, love' stories
I'm generally a lot more easy going than my mrs when it comes to buying stuff although the stuff I buy tends to be more pricey, take up more space and/or be more imposing. Admittedly I do find myself rolling my eyes when she buys a new pair of shoes.
"there's a box full of perfectly good ones in the garage, what do you need a new pair for?"
To be fair she's pretty accommodating and cuts me a lot of slack.

Re: 'By the way, love' stories
"What has it ordered again?!" (hands over a cardboard box)
"let me see that" (looks) "oh yeah this one, I swapped some games and had forgotten about this one as it took so long to send"
"aha"
edit: that was today... but here´s the big cab talk:
"What are you doing?!?"
(stops moving tables) "I was thinking, see I was thinking about maybe buying an arcade cabinet, you know the old kind of big gaming machine you would have seen in some gas stations, shops and such"
"What? Where would you fit such a thing?!"
"Right here (in my mancave) I was thinking about moving that table there and this table over here and you would get this bookshelf... "
"..." (stomps foot)
"also yeah, you would get that new dishwasher"
"Okay"
Now that, I think, went amazingly well.

Re: 'By the way, love' stories
Due to an imminent house move I stored my two cabs at my parents with the plan to escalate things in bearable amounts. I started with the Cute on a day when she was away. Due the small size (well, when she asked how big a cab was beforehand I showed her a two player Scud Racing...) and the girlish colour she actually called it "cute" (as cute as manly means of escapism can be to woman) and was OK with it. Half a year later I´m still think of ways to smuggle the unchopped Naomi in...

Re: 'By the way, love' stories
The only comment I've gotten from my gf is that I should wait until we get to Japan to buy more games. We live in a 3 room flat, 1 of the rooms is a dedicated gamingroom. So I think I'm in a very good spot compared to some of the other guys on here =) , Now if I could just find a pinballmachine to place in the livingroom...

Re: 'By the way, love' stories
"you can buy those games on our trip to tokyo" ...
I heart that sentence several times too.
Still, pretty sure there a catch ... somewhere ...
maybe the catch is, that there will be no money left for pcbs then.

Hi! - Hi!
"You got a big **** parcel today. What is it? Did we talk about it?"
"Yes. Very short"
"What is it?"
"You know ... The stool .... I showed it to you online ... the one you did not like ... "

They're massively practical as temporary seating/footstools.

Yeah, my Japanese stools are great to have around. I used one while decorating the toilet the other day.

...Erm, when I say "decorating the toilet", I mean painting the room, not pebbledashing the basin.

You buy that thing, put Puzzle Bobble in there and yell " Tadaaahhh Surprise and happy birthday darling ! "

I'm currently forming a 'put the cab in the lounge' strategy. It involves the element of surprise, plastering, skirting, architrave, and tactical placement of new sofas. I hope to confuse the opposition with a renovation skirmish.

Great photo. From that angle he looks as though he's thinking "I know I shouldn't - Hetty says I mustn't, but oh go on then, another one won't hurt and **** knows I'm going to enjoy it! "
It's that kind of behaviour that took my beloved workshop Henry

He's a real trooper alright. It was just a combination of old age, oversized wood chippings, steel shavings and indirect verbal abuse mainly. His wee motor gave out in the end but he went the distance
It's been a couple of years now and I'm tempted to buy another for around the house. I was just thinking about how **** the big Panasonic Dyson ripoff one I currently have is
