Re: what stool
I just use an Ikea budget special. The perfect height for a japanese cab. It's served me well.

Re: what stool
I like the Ikea Egil stools.
They are comfortable and the height is adjustable.
End of last year I bought 4 of those for 9€/each, but I don't think that you can get them anymore (depends also on the country).

These are awesome!jase wrote:I've always liked the Japan game centre ones, and I can vouch for the 'Rocketstools'. The service is excellent and the stools are comfortable and very good quality. The only thing is they are a touch lower than the Japanese stools.

Apparently so. I have one with a back rest. I think it's called a Taito TT stool.Ultron wrote: Edit: I think they are official Taito stools

Re: what stool
Those Rocket stools, can't they be raised enough by adding some sort of pucks under the feet? Should be easy and wouldn't look too shabby me thinks.

Re: what stool
I've got a couple of Taito (I think) ones for the Naomi
I really must finish polishing the leg covers up
I've had some of the Ikea JEFF chairs which are good for a budget option.
I find them too low for the Pony so I got some of these fellas off ebay for them which are about 8cm taller:
I really wanted some of the Taito ones from the group order for the Sega minis/Pony but they could have ended up costing a pretty penny if duty was charged on top of them too so I had to back out

I've got a couple of these; http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90217793/
Nice **** shaped seat and folding hydraulic style mechanism for folding up when you need more space. I can't get on with stools, I need a back rest.

Re: what stool
I have a couple of Japanese stools, I think they are Taito ones and I also use a chrome tube frame patio chair, like the ones they have outside coffee shops.
Pros for the game center stools
IMO they look the part
Perfect height (for me)
Really nice small footprint
Stackable
Anyone can recover them in any fabric they wish as its dead easy to do
Cons
Gives you a numb ****
No back support
Unless you get a new one or a good 2nd hand one they need a bit of a fettle
Really overpriced for what they are but they seem to hold their value if you want to move them on
My patio chair Pros
Can be eaisly chopped to 'your' perfect height as it's only made of a soft tube alloy
Back support which is sooo nice after an couple of hours on a Taito stool
No more numb bum as I use a nice comfy cushion
I presume they are not very expensive, I found mine in the garage, left for me by the previous owners
Patio chair cons
It sits too far away from my SC19's due to the angle of the legs but they have one of the narrowest CP of any candy, That said it's perfect for my chopped Naomi.
Asthetics - it's not horrible in fact I think it looks fine but it's still a paitio chair
TBH anything thats the right height or can be chopped down to suit your needs will do. As long as you like the look of it and think is worth the money.
Jase posted some really nice pics from an old mag/book and they were using something like Kirin Ichiban or Asahi beer crates.

Stools/bench are ok as long as there is a wall behind them
