My OutRun 2 work being sold for profit on eBay
Sorry if you've already seen this on j+ or ukvac.
A heads up on this OutRun 2 artwork being sold on eBay, I hope people can understand why I'm fuming about this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEGA-ARCADE-O ... 4265723%26
I recreated this from scratch using scans of originals generously provided by Gary/OutRun 2 after finding out they were NLA from Sega or any suppliers. I spent a lot of hours working on these, and when finished I uploaded them to Jamma+ so other forum members could print them out, with the only condition that they not be hosted anywhere else or sold for profit. Then I spot this auction today asking £25 per piece for what is clearly my work.
I've asked the seller to remove it as I know it's taken from my files. He denies it and says they are repro's of originals.
Here is a little comparison. There's no doubt they are mine. I'd just ask that you please don't buy from this guy and if you can share in my anger you might report these items as sale of copyrighted materials.
Original:
My repro - with a couple of pretty big mistakes - I couldn't match the lower case 'g' properly and I also left the 'y' and 'p' far too long on the tails - which I fixed on a later version which isn't on here yet. There are other things as well, like the palm trees being much too dark in the version uploaded.
And the one on eBay. Pretty f*cking obvious where it's from.
If anyone actually needs a set I'd be happy to send you the files FREE of course. The whole point of sharing them was so that people didn't have to pay silly money for a repro.

Re: My OutRun 2 work being sold for profit on eBay
In an effort to stop this guy selling my work I've created duplicate listings of his stuff on eBay with my own pics and priced them at £4 each instead of the £20 he is charging.
I have also just uploaded 3 ready for print .pdf files (preview images below) to the Wiki - nobody needs to pay for them. There wasn't an OutRun 2 page to add them too - I just uploaded the files so they will need a page created if someone wouldn't mind.
Do what you like with them, just don't sell them

Well done mate. IMHO the great thing about this hobby is that there are so many people who put so much time and effort into projects like this and then just go and share their results with everyone.

From what I've seen he buys up complete cabs, dismantles them and sells out individual parts for high prices to make a nice profit.

He must be parting them for parts he wants first and dumping the rest on eBay surely. You could part out much smaller things in much bigger markets for more profit than there is in arcade cabs.

Yeah, I heard about him parting out a cab (or cabs) he bought from someone on here for profit. Can't remember who it was or the exact circumstances mind you, but whoever it was more than a bit **** off with what happened. From my memory, apparently Deano was deceptive about his intentions, or at least intentionally gave the impression that he was keeping them cab(s) himself, and he used the situation to bag a bunch of free parts and accessories along with the cab(s) which he also promptly sold for a profit.
