I did this once too, and it worked very well. 8-)
Thou, I used my boxed nintendo games, which are a lot more eye-pleasing than a stack of green pcbs.

think most of mine have been "cheap" a tenner or so i'm always very vague on prices... and everything i've gotten rid of has been a well lower prices

Yes. Never start with the straight up price. Always "Well, after I've sold this stuff... and worked a few days... and skipped that night out last year when I wasn't well... and all those other relevant things to consider... only a few hundred pounds mayb--Oh you look nice, is that a new handbag?"

A lot of the stuff in this thread resonates with me, but I don't think I've got it too bad. The Mrs buys a fair amount of stuff on eBay herself (mostly clothes and girly ****) so she doesn't have much of a leg to stand on with parcels arriving, but she does try and get a monk on occasionally. I do fund my addiction entirely through sales of other **** and the bit of my income which is ring-fenced for personal use, so I don't get too much grief from that angle though. The only real battleground is the space cabs take up, but the spare room in our first house rapidly became "my room" and from that point onwards we've always had an extra room for my ****, mainly because she won't have any of it in a part of the house that any dirty norms might see!

The crunch is going to come in a year or two when she starts popping sprogs and I lose my room. We've already agreed that I can keep 1 cab in another part of the house, provided it's a cab which meets her approval... I reckon I can barter her up to two cabs though :awe:

As for prices, just lie. 8-)

I've done that before, I still get the rolled eyes & exasperated sigh.

They (women) are not stupid. They either know that:

You will sell, then buy more over priced (in her eyes) crap
You won't sell it, so there is no real gain
You have spent an equally ridiculous amount on some other over priced (in her eyes) game that is hidden somewhere.

As PJ said, the sweeteners are what costs you

Stupid game or misc thing, eg, £500
Currency conversion/fees + 5%
Delivery and insurance + 30%
Tax + 20%
Gift for Mrs + 25-100%
"Yeah that's fine" trap for her every whim over next week + 100-200% at least.

Sneaking it in unnoticed is so much cheaper.

Me and my wife have sepparate bank accounts and one joint bank account which is used to pay all the bills and groceries etc...we both put a fixed amount of money aside on that account each month. That way I can basically buy I want and so can she...win win situation in my opinion.
The way I managed to get a NAC was, that I told her it wouldn't take up that much space and it would look great in the living room (she already knew about them from our trip to Japan)...for the second NAC I convinced her that I needed one more to play shmups as rotating the monitor would not be good for my back and also I could get it cheap. What also helps is that she likes video games and has quite a lot of NES, Lynx, Game Gear and Master System games. Most of our collection is actually hers, I have the more expensive stuff.

I remember the day I came home with a Steel Battalion controller while we were living in a small apartment.

'What...is that?'

'A really amazing controller! I'll use it all the time! it's totally worth the space it takes up!'

'Oh really? Can you use it with all your consoles?'

'eh...'

'Just one console? but loads of games right?'

'eh...'

'How many games????'

'eh...'

Never thought I'd be at a point where I have two cabs in the house. Very gradually increasing the size and quantity is key

I'm so glad I'm single and only have to deal with a concerned father.

Dad: " Why are you out here so late? (In garage)

Kaire: " Making room for my new cabinet <3 I found it on CL super cheap!"

Dad: " Well, don't stay up too late. Good night sweetheart"

The end. I just have to make sure the lawnmower is easily accessible and we're all good ;)

Maybe you're an exception Kaire, but I think after marriage and/or motherhood, Women go from attract mode ("enjoy" videogames, blowjobs, and shoes), to boss mode (truly enjoy order, antibac and more shoes).

Don't get married and don't have children to stay 'cool' . Got it!

But, really, I think it's kinda sad that the guys get guilt'd and reprimanded for their hobby. I'm curious, do you guys get all questiony when your girls buy stuff you don't like? Or are you cool about it?

I'd say I'm far more easy going but I guess my Ms is here to kick me up the ****. That's why she has so many expensive pointy shoes.

It's just a re-order of priorities. And money sadly always has to be high on the list. I'm just making fun of necessity really. Personally, if I was single, I'd probably be in the cheapest possible bedsit, happily working through every videogame I've ever wanted to play, on a strict diet of beans on toast, in bed, and still wearing the same boxer shorts since 1999. Sigh.

It's worth it really.
