Sega / Vewlix CP CAD files

Post by FrancoB »

SEGA CPs:

I've got the following panels uploaded in .DWG and .DXF:

You can download AutoCAD 2000 versions [here] or AutoCAD 2015 versions [here]

I can also export them to .EPS if required, just let me know.

Please note that some hole positions may vary from one manufacturer to another. If you're designing an overlay to fit an existing panel it might be worth doing a test print prior to getting your CPO printed to make sure everything aligns as it should.

I do know a couple of panels have been cut from these plans though and they fit Sega cabs nicely.

VEWLIX CONTROL PANELS

Modelled from a E3102171A 2L14B panel kindly donated by Derick2k

Identical to the E3102171A but with a stud arrangement to a range of joysticks:

Image

Seimitsu SE - Fits: LS-32/LS-32-01, LS-34/LS-34-01, LS-40/LS-40-01.
Seimitsu SE-P40 - Fits: LS-55/LS-55-01, LS-56/LS-56-01, LS-58/LS-58-01 and LS-60
Sanwa JLF-P-1 for the JLF

Mounting studs for the joysticks have increased to take into account the ~7mm spacers you'll need to use to achieve the correct joystick height.

I've taken as much care as possible to ensure all dimensions are correct and I've printed multiple scaled .dxfs off to confirm accuracy. I'm as confident as I can be without actually getting a panel cut and offering up overlays etc. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who gets one cut so I can update the model if required.

All Vewlix files are available [here].

I'll be adding some custom Vewlix control panel .dxfs once I've finished designing them.

FYI, the official 2L8B has different spacing on the buttons. They don't line up with the standard six button layout

The arc or the Tekken cluster?

I think you are right about the arc. I had a couple of 1L4Bs I converted for SuperTurbo and the top row was slightly out to the Sega 'standard'.

The main thing I need to check for now is the profile and the more common layouts. I have a 2L12B, a 2L6B and a 1L6B I can check against.

Aye, the arc one. I can do you a scan of the panel, but not sure if that's good enough for a CAD drawing

A scan would be great :)

I can import it into ACAD and then scale/trace it. Should be able to get it close enough for what we need

Spacing of holes is differs between manufacturers. E.g. my seimitsu 2l12b astro panel has the joystick holes in a different position than the original 2l6(8)?B that came with my naomi cab.

Button and stick positions differ between Sega panels as well. An Astro overlay doesn't fit on a Naomi panel for example. It's a very slight difference, but it's there. AndyGeezer had a picture on his site, I don't know if it would show with buttons fitted, but it would be nice to have a perfect fitting panel for those original Astro overlays out there.

It would grow to a whole project type thing, but doing a collection of different vectors matching the different panels for different cabs out there would be awful nice to have. If there aren't any original overlays left the benefit would of course be questionable, but at least for the cabs where overlays are still available. Perhaps we could have some sort of more organized version of the "show your panel"-thread in the gallery except it could be in the wiki.

Scanning a panel with overlay on an A3 scanner isn't difficult, quality isn't that important as it's only for the different button positions and to show off how the panel actually looks in correct scale.

Little bump for this, any update? I was going to do the work myself and draw one up, but since you got them almost finished, I figured I would ask you. I need to make a custom HotD panel for a Net City.

I doubt you'd get it after just a single post asking for something, but try sticking around for a while. :awe:

Laser FTW! :awe:

Yeah, I still have the files. It's 98% correct apart from the two bottom 'angles' which are actually huge radii's rather than striaght lines but I've not been able to figure out the exact size of them. I could do with measuring them on a CMM really

I've got them on another HDD, I'll pull them off it and upload them.
