Maybe too easy but did you already try to adjust horizontal hold? Only works if your monitor has analogue adjustment.

Adjust horizontal hold - System 18 games are known for having slightly different sync.

krellz - besides the suggestions here re the horizontal hold on the monitor, two other points:
a) I hope that your monitor can be rotated, as Alien Storm is a horizontal game and your cab currently has a vertically mounted monitor.
b) You shouldn't leave the board in bubble wrap while running it, not only because of the risk of static from the bubble wrap, but because of heat buildup with the board running in an unventilated, fairly sealed environment. This WILL lead to component failure.
Be careful out there.
