Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
Bought one, played through Ocarina 3D, sold it. It's the worthwhile game for the system ^^.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
Yeah, and Amazon now too.
I played one for the first time the other day (with my Son in Argos). They only had Nintendogs and SFIV on the display units. The 3D effect is much better than I thought it could be, but I see what everyone means about it having a tight sweet spot. I guess it works using a similar method to those corrugated hologram posters where the 3cm difference in angle of each eye is enough to reveal/blockout each picture; so (I think) there's nothing really that could be done about the tight sweet spot without a drop in screen sharpness or quality.
The one game in the line up that most interests me is pilotwings, but apparently reviews of that are a bit disappointing.

I ordered one at the weekend from Tesco for £115 plus 8% quidco.I'm mainly getting it to upgrade from my original chunky DS but hopefully some decent stuff will come out for it.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
You'll still save a ton getting one from the UK, even if you get a member here to get one for you. 115 quid on amazon = 225 NZD, with postage included it'll still fall short of the prices being asked here. Worth looking intomikeBlack wrote:Now the price cuts in New Zealand have kicked in I plan on picking one up soon.

Sold mine about 2 months ago, Too finicky trying to hold the screen dead still for 3D then waiting for your eyes to adjust, DSI XL is still Nintendo's king of handhelds imho.
"Yeah lets all get ponys instead, wait no lol trendy cabs" Err I think you meant Ponies didn't you ?

I'm now enjoying Ridge Racer 3D.
I do think I may go blind staring so hard at the screen, but I'll take the risk.

Black ones (blue sold out) are £105 at tesco direct with a code.

I faffed around trying to log into an old tesco account at 2:30am last night. Had to get up for work at 6:00... the missed sleep wasn't worth the extra tenner saving.
But anyway, that's the boy's Christmas present sorted. Seeing as the current game lineup is still unexciting, I'm sure I can wait 4 Months. At least the upcoming mario game planned looks to be worth getting it for alone. ...As per usual with Nintendo.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
You know, if I can ignore nostalgia, I think the DS is probably my most favourite console ever (with the XL being the best version of it). Naughty card loaded with with Phoenix, Layton, Mario/Kart, Rythm Paradise, a bunch of RPGs and all time classic nintendo ports. There's so much stuff I still plan to play on it. I'd probably pay the price for the XL if all it could do is run flipnote.gargoyle67 wrote:DSI XL is still Nintendo's king of handhelds imho.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
I think I'm going to get one now the price has dropped. I have played Pilotwings a few times and its good. I want to try Monkey Ball 3D as well.
I don't find the 3D effect too hard to look at. Its handy that they have the 3D slider on the side so you can dial in the perfect amount.

That will probably make me buy the 3ds, I've really not been bothered up until now.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
i was at v festival this weekend and there was 3ds tent. i had a go on mario kart 3ds and that was good even in 3d! quite a few little improvements. but also got to have a go at mario and i must say the 3d did hurt my eyes a bit witch was disappointing. but it could be the rum and coke i was drinking all day the 3d made it very difficult to jump on goombas as it was hard to gauge where you was on the screen.

Re: Will you buy a Nintendo 3DS?
Luigi Mansion 2 should be good too, then there's mariokart and possibly pikmin.
The DS set the Mariokart bar very high really, it even beats the snes version.
[edit]tart, that's cool that they had the new mario to try. I hope your reservations were just alcohol induced.

I'd like to try that too but I've never enjoyed monkey ball like the first ones on the gamecube. It goes to show how important the soundtrack can be, as the originals had that awesome trance music.Shady994 wrote:I want to try Monkey Ball 3D as well.
