Re: Hi all cps2 problem
They are always ridiculously loud (like scared the crap out of me loud). But i am gonna keep an eye on this thread, as I would like to know if there is a way to make it less loud.salahithe1 wrote:Hi all i have a cps2 progear bootleg the problem is the main board fan is so load. The screws used to seal up this cart are wood screws. Nobody is going to waste good wood screws on a bootleg, they'd just use cheap electronic screws instead.

Re: Hi all cps2 problem
You need a Papst 612F series fan. 612F/L recommended, but 612F/2 will suffice.
You will need to solderthe original cable from the CPS2 board onto the fan:

Re: Hi all cps2 problem
You can also use a resistance; this will make the fan spin slower and thus more quiet.

Or use a variable resistor and make youself a cheeky fan speed dial.MrSandman wrote:You can also use a resistance; this will make the fan spin slower and thus more quiet.

Now combine that with a random generator .idc wrote:Or use a variable resistor and make youself a cheeky fan speed dial.MrSandman wrote:You can also use a resistance; this will make the fan spin slower and thus more quiet.

Re: Hi all cps2 problem
Stick a temperature gauge in there and let it set the fan speed for you. So much nicer than a dialWurstkopp wrote:Now combine that with a random generator .idc wrote:Or use a variable resistor and make youself a cheeky fan speed dial.MrSandman wrote:You can also use a resistance; this will make the fan spin slower and thus more quiet.

Re: Hi all cps2 problem
LoL what if i just removed it alltogether would that be ok. As it does not go in a arcade cab it just sits ontop of my desk so it would not overheat right

Re: Hi all cps2 problem
Eh... I'd still be hesitant to just remove it completely. Unless it was completely open, cover removed, in a location that you know always stays cool. But that might be me being overcautious.salahithe1 wrote:LoL what if i just removed it alltogether would that be ok. Re: Hi all cps2 problem
if you are using it for a couple of hours or less at home then you don't need the fan. If it's going to be running inside a closed cab for 8 hours at a time, then you need the fan. Just unplug it from the motherboard
Same goes for Naomi
