Jamma not working with mvs

Post by willynilly »

Hi guy's. I am a bit of an arcade noob  so be gentle please. My problem is this / Ive just got my self a net city arcade cab with a pcb game wrestlefest. Anyway this game works fine with no problems but when i plug in my MVS 1 slot it wont even come on! Just get a garbled screen of doom. It works fine in my old cab. Also none of my CPS2 games work either! There seems to be a few wires missing from the JAMMA connection. There's about 7 spare wires not doing nothing!( just hanging) Do they need connecting? thanks for your help in advance chaps

You need a Jamma pinout diagram and to check on that whats missing on your jamma harness.

Perhaps a few pics would help? maybe of the topside and bottom side of the jamma harness, could see what wires are where then.

that's a new chinese jamma loom-they do not have the video ground on pin 14,they just link to the power ground
this may be causing the problem-some boards seem to run fine on power ground whilst others are particular on pin 14

try moving the video ground to pin 14 first and see what happens

Note: If I've made any errors, someone please step in and point them out! - Cheers.

Right, looking at your pics, I think this is what you need to do.

You should have a bundle of five video wires coming from your monitor (in addition to the power wires - don't mess with those!)

These five wires should be red, green, blue, white and black. The red, green, blue and white wires are already in the right places.

However, the black video ground wire isn't connected to pin 14, marked in pink, where it should be. Instead, pin 14 is empty, and the video ground wire is probably within one of the groups of black wires to the left or the right of the connector, marked as "power ground". You need to find which of the black wires is the one that's bundled with the red, green, blue and white monitor wires. Then you need to de-solder it from wherever it's connected and relocate it to pin 14.
