Anyone ever drilled open a Naomi cashbox lock?
Got no key to mine and have to open it. How to approach drilling it open? Any other options??

start with a small metal drill, and gradually go larger - i also found it helps if the drill is spinning befor you touch the metal otherwise it can jam in the key slot - and for gods sake wear protective glasses!

I did one of mine the other week. I started with a 3mm drill and was going to go up in 1-2mm stages but the 3mm caught in the lock and spun it open

4mm drill straight through the 12 o'clock key locator insert-drill until you hear a crack and thats the barrel pin broken, then use an old key similar to the lock and wrench round-should do the trick

Oh! Thanks for all the quick answers that actually made me look at this rather optimistic - thought I'd be looking at a big problem but obviously it is not that hard - kewl!

Just use a decent set of drill bits, not those cheap Bosch **** as they dull down in seconds and you'll end up with white finger & staring at the blunt drill bit licking the inside of the lock for 30 mins or so. A good metal drill just goes right through in under a minute. Done it a few times.

Okay, have to revive this.grantspain wrote:4mm drill straight through the 12 o'clock key locator insert-drill until you hear a crack and thats the barrel pin broken, then use an old key similar to the lock and wrench round-should do the trick
I did as Grant said, and also heard the crack but an old key didn't help. Drilled a bit more and also drilled on the 6 o'clock.
This is what it looks like at the moment:
What exactly do I have to remove? If I drill away the inner part, will this open the lock?

keep drilling at 12 o'clock, use a bolt and hammer the centre-then twist the centre part

Seriously, with the right tools / drill bit and a bit of confidence it's done in a few minutes
