I actually never tested the PS3 firmware under linux, but the normal MAME version is well tested (and working).
I emailed Capcom yesterday politely asking for more free things...(honestly they said they would do it previously so I was just reminding them). Apparently they are using the exact same set-up as I have within Capcom offices and they love it, so the JVS-PAC is endorsed by-proxy, lol I dont even know if they realise they have it, I'll try to drop its name in my next mail to them.
The system must be a handy and cool test base. They are sticking an early build of MvC2 on it. The Demo is really cool (cue obligatory
Vewlix pic).
As for the raging linux debate. Yellow Dog works pretty well I think, other than the utter stupidity of WPA not working after install (although there is a work around...which begs the question why they don't implement it in the install package). After fiddling with the MAME settings it runs old school games OK and looks pretty good too. If they ever get the PS3's GFx hardware working well I think it would run very well. That said I'm going to install Ubuntu shortly since I've used it in the past and its way more user friendly than yellow dog, I just assumed since YDL is build from the groud up for PS3 it would be better....
If invzim would consider getting the PS3 firmware to work in Linux, it would be a big plus for me personally.

, The JVS-PAC is an amazing piece of kit BTW.
Eventually however I'm thinking I would buy a Dual Core (Atom), 3D accelerated (Nvidia ION, GeForce 9400M) Acer Revo, which is apparently coming out in June. That's assuming the CPU can handle something more than the single core atoms.
