Ok I got the wiki for B+, will test later.

I got some caps, and perform some test on C302 but unfortunately, no effect at all on the picture in 31Khz
I tried also to play with C301, but no effect.

Any idea Grantspain ? we are close to the goal :)
Thx

hmm dunno mate,i reckon it may be worth having a look at C86 value again as it may affect all frequencies

after hours and hours of try, I didn't fix this bloody chassis :shifty:
You can fix 15Khz side compression but will generate 31Khz side stretch and vice versa.

If some are interested, on my 666 I fixed the side compression issue by replacing C86 with 1uF 400V but this generating issue on 31Khz

If someone is able to do more, feel free to complete this thread.

Thanks Grantspain for your help.

So ideally you want 2 capacitors on a switch mechanism? :)

Exactly my thought, wouldnt be that hard to do?

And maybe I can learn something from this to fix my WeiYa 2929D62 chassis that has EXTREME stretch in 48kHz.
Thanks for your info iori. :)

Thanks! :D

Im gonna try to build a switch, to switch between two caps.
My panasonic monitor has super-nice colors/convergence/geometry....except that small side-compression in 15kHz.
Fix that and I have reached the goal.

Now what kind of Cap is that, ceramic?

That's a polyester cap. Ceramics are the round orange ones.

Sorry for Hijacking your thread iori, though this is the monitor that I am gonna test the cap-switch on.

Wurstkopp: It is a arcade-monitor, imported a long time ago and sold on http://www.arcadegames.se".
It is said to be a Panasonic monitor, it has a Matsushita tube and a chassis that is a copy of the M3192D/666A type chassis...but with changes like higher quality components on some places, the biggest difference is that it doesnt have a 15-31kHz switch, it takes care of that automatically with great result.

It has a super sharp picture in both 15 and 31kHz and awesome colors and geometry.
...except that small side-compression thingy.

I have two units of this bad boy, brand new. :awe:
Though I have no manual or cannot find any info about it...

Wow, looks really awesome! I won't bother too much with the little compression, I've seen pictures of different brands that look really ****. Never heard of the type, you may want to upload some specs, pics and details to the wiki, especially the tube number :). Will be doing the same thing with a Nanao MS 2933 monitor that arrives this week, not much info on the web so far.

As soon as someone comes up with a guide and the capacitors I need to go buy, I am definitely going to pull the trigger on a 666a and get some trisync love in my New Astro. This has been bothering me far too long.

A while back, I put this Wei-Ya/Rodotron chassis in my New Astro City. I really liked the 31khz, but the 15khz... the scanlines were a bit thick for me. Here's pictures of it after I put in the chassis. Sadly I don't have the cab anymore. The 15khz picture is from an arcade board and the 31khz is from my Dreamcast in VGA.

And here it is....the fix for 15kHz side-compression.

I did build a switch that switches between two capacitors (C86 on ioris picture)
Original is 0.43uF on my Panasonic chassis (Built on 666A/3192D chassis)
..switchable to 1uF.

With really good results, the side-compression is gone in 15kHz. :)
And just switch back when you want to play 31kHz.

...though I dont dare to switch when the power is on....

Mind doing a small write up on how to do the mod? Just a step by step sort of thing, and i'll shove it all up on the wiki for safe keeping :D
