PSVR2 preorder regret...and then this announcement!

Post by slugflyer »

I was bored.

I clicked around and... decided that GT7 was getting pretty interesting with VR2 and I hadnt really played it much yet so, my ps5 was collecting dust (AES, xbox, vewlix, switch taking up my game time). But I have to say it's incredibly disappointing that there isn't a way to play your PSVR1 games on it. :wtf: .

But today... I saw this game, very REZ+TENNIS+SEGA and thought it would interest some arcade folk so I wanted to share it:

Anyone else thinking of pre ordering? :awe:

yeah totally agreed, it feels like that... im thinking im crazy and could get way cooler stuff with it, but the tech nerd inside me wants it. It is really puzzling me... this was first invitiation only, and now... its open to all... (I guess they didnt get as many pre orders as expected) and now you can't find it on ANY retailer on earth except sony direct?! :wtf:

Its a lot of money, but really for what it is it seems like a pretty good deal. Sold my ps5 when you could still get more for it than what you paid for it so chances of me getting it are slim to none i'd say.

As long as its better than the first PSVR I tried out a mates set-up once & it was like I was in hospital rigged up to some monitoring equipment.

so it arrived :awe: oh man horizon, which is a mountain climbing game... :lolno: was impressive graphically and rather immersive but that climbing can make you feel pretty motion sick. Now, this might make me feel sick but i might have to give it a go, the cyber punk neo motorbike stuff looks like a dream come true for the kid in me!!

Back in the 90's I made myself the deal, which ever console released a VR headset first I would purchase.

Shame that it was not the Atari Jaguar.

I have the PSVR 1 and thought it was pretty good.

However the low refresh rate on the PSVR 1 can induce some motion fatigue after about 20 minutes, at least on the people who tried mine.

Therefore going into the PSVR 2 - it's something I would want to try out in person before considering a purchase. I'd also wait until the inevitable cheaper PS5 slim bundle arrives.

I've seen plenty of big name 'reviews' of the PSVR 2 where they say "I've only played each game for 30minutes at at time" which makes me a bit suspicious they are avoiding talking about the subject.

That said from what I have seen it does look pretty incredible and there is a new Cosmic Smash coming out.

Sounds like great fun so hope you enjoy!

Way too expensive. Plus, does Sony even allow porn on it?

Oh, you got a Virtual Boy too?

I'm still not tempted by VR. I've tried it and it's a mighty impressive experience, but it's still not something I feel I have any desire to own, for several reasons:

1. It's just more gear to be strewn across the living room floor until it makes its way to the cupboard to be forgotten about. (Anybody want an AC mini?)
2. It's not comfortable to use for any length of time. Developers know this as well so most games are a fairly superficial affair.
3. You look like a bellend using it.
4. I find it a bit disconcerting being unaware of your surroundings for too long. Eg.

I totally agree with the novelty comment stuff like this just reminds me of the snes super scope & will lack long term software support just like that did.

Pistol Whip is the best game I've played so far. Absolutely amazing fun and a real physical workout.
Think Matrix meets Neon inspired Tron with shooting to a beat.
The bosses even spray bullets Ala Cave :awe:

Gran Turismo is very impressive in VR as well.
