I have two VSHG. One with Brook Zero Pi and one with the UFB from Brook. Works on PS3,4,5 and Switch, and i use it on my MiSTer, too.

The latest HORI sticks look quite nice, including the Fighting Edge.

For 130 quid though, you're not looking at the more "custom" options as they tend to run a little more.

However, I would probably take a VSHG off you, as I would like a third.

Mistakes are about to be made.

You're not going to end up with a stick as sturdy as the VSHG from the current crop. Keep it and mod it.

Rewire your VSHG. I wish I hadn’t sold mine.

I’ve had a couple of the newer hori sticks, they’re not as good as VSHG, so much so I’ve just bought the inferior Astro mini stick

These are meant to be decent too, easy to mod, but really how often do you mod a stick

I have a Nacon Daija. The only advantage it has over the VSHG is how it's more portable as the cable can be stored inside the case. That aaand... I can swap the JLF for a LS-60 with a bat top in a minute or so for some UMK3 action. Who else does that? Probably no one.

EDIT: I had to dremel a bit off the LS-60 mounting plate for this to work.

It gathers dead skin and dust and has to be cleaned every now and then not to look grubby. I got mine for cheap so I don't mind much, but I wouldn't want it to be my sole arcade stick.

I recommend the UFB for PS4(/5). Superb board and even works perfectly on Switch and 360. All you need.

My wiring might be a useful reference:

Possibly, but it’ll be a long while before they drop PS4 compatibility. I could be wrong, but I’d be surprised if SF6 is 4K/120 on PS5 and a total gimp on PS4

Not sure I have a photo of that area. I kept that sub-PCB in place and cut the wires from that, extended them to be PS, options, L2, R2 etc.

The USB at the back; it's a USB-B extender and wedged it between the pillars.

If you need photos ping me and I can take some maybe tonight after work.

PS4 stick will work with any game that’s back compatible with ps4, which will be all of them for a long time

Might not be the place to ask, but what is everyone using for custom stick bases? The old SF IV Madcatz sticks arent so cheap anymore, and I'd like to do a project for making my own AES/MVS stick.

It’s not a drop in, not sure if you can fit it after cutting away at the case.

JLF drops in as do snap in buttons

Interesting, from another Reddit thread
The newer 8bitdo arcade sticks can accept larger Seimitsu joysticks like LS-32/40. There's now a large square cutout for the whole joystick instead of just the shaft and actuator as before. I tried an LSX-NOBI-01-PRO in mine and it will work under normal use but if I push down on it hard enough it'll rub slightly. Pretty sure that's Seimitsu's largest joystick by far. Buttons feel almost as light as Sanwa but still knockoffs. The initial revision could only fit Sanwa JLF and JLF-sized joysticks. I don't know if there's a way to guarantee that you get the newer version though.
