Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Took approximately 2.5 hours. I guess with experience 30 minutes or less is practical.
I'd do it again on one of my own I guess.
Photo sucks.

Bivert module. Easy install, be very patient wicking the old solder away, took me a while to find the right temperature and angle.
DMG vs MGB screens? DMG flat out better. Just as much ghosting, but far less banding!
Amp and speaker installed. Badly. I'll redo it soon when I have time. Tried to make the wires short and neat, which makes it a nightmare to close up. Redoing it I'll solder long wires to the amp, fix it and the speaker into the case then follow the "finished" installation photo in the instructions to route, solder and tape them. Worthwhile? It's as loud as a pair of headphones maxed out and heats up the case a hell of a lot Not sure it's of much benefit at normal volume. Saves doing the decoupling capacitor maybe?
Obligatory dark shot, HDR disabled as it was screwing up the image.
Really happy with the green "pro" backlight, definitely the look I was after. Very close to the boxart glow.DMG vs MGB screens? DMG flat out better. Just as much ghosting, but far less banding!

Pubjoe: I'd do another no sweat, which is probably why there are a bunch of people doing premods. The hardest part is getting the old films off, you're working in a very restricted space, it's fiddly and tedious. Remove the dust shield and the little foam pads avoids pressure marks. How people fail to clean the screen and avoid dust is beyond me though. I faffed around taking it apart multiple times, cleaning it all each time. My polariser to the eye is ruined but once behind the LCD its minty.

Re: Game Boys (Bivert-curious welcome)
Whilst seeking out the best way to avoid dust when applying a screen cover for my mobile devices... I came across a great piece of advice which so far has worked for me 100% of the time.
In a nutshell... You find the room with the least carpet...
The bathroom! Pre steam the bathroom so any dust particles in the air become too heavy and simply come down. Now's your chance for dust free application. Obviously moisture is a concern maybe? Maybe let the steam evaporate a bit? Dunno... As I've never applied an actual screen on GB before...
Kitchen is good also. It's where I apply screen covers mostly now... Doesn't need steam so far, though not as fool proof.

I’ve usually used the kitchen for the bright light but steaming the room to clear dust is a great idea. I’d have never thought of that.
