Get a few boxed ones too. The mini jp boxes are awesome.
GB isn’t too far back for me. Played Bubble Ghost on it quite recently.

Re: Wanted: Game Boy Advance (modded with backlit screen)
Yes, and it's not the only one I've got what I consider a lowball bid on :facepalm:geotrig wrote:lol cools ,you win the auction ?
At various times I've had a GB (when it was current), a GBC (same), a GB Light (late), a GBA (imported Japan launch model), multiple SPs and an AGS101. I have a real soft spot for it.markedkiller78 wrote:My first GB was a GBP, so I was late to the party. I finished all the mainstream 1st party and excellent (at the time) capcom Zelda games.
Going back to the GB is too much of a step back. GBA is still incredible though
GBA plays the lot in comfort.
They look great, but I really can't be arsed maintaining cardboard.pubjoe wrote:Get a few boxed ones too. The mini jp boxes are awesome.

GB/GBC/GBA - small, dirt cheap, robust, colourful and plentiful.

Re: Wanted: Game Boy Advance (modded with backlit screen)
That is some haul of games
I would like to try a modded OG GBA as the ergonomics of the SP are crap at best.

Re: Wanted: Game Boy Advance (modded with backlit screen)
I think my OG white GBA was the first thing I ever modded. I remember buying it from Dixons on launch with some crappy games on finance when I was doing my apprenticeship.
I remember using a soldering iron of my dads (who had and still has never soldered) which had a massive tip ( ) to install an afterburner(?) backlight . I'm surprised it worked then and I'm even more surprised it still works now! I remember buying a Flash2Advance flash cart for it which was something like 128Mb (Megabits ) and had a serial interface I remember downloadind romzerz for it via dial up. Man I feel old
I've still got that GBA along with a AGS-001, a AGS-101 and a Micro.
The Micro is currently my favourite as it has the best screen/backlight/comfort ratio. I'm not a big fan of the SPs as they're uncomfortable. I do love my original OG GBA as it's the most comfortable to play but the backlight/screen looks a bit whack. If you can get backlit screen from Ali then I might see if I can overhaul it. Thanks for the heads up.

Never mind the GBA, are there any NGPC screen mods?

Re: Wanted: Game Boy Advance (modded with backlit screen)
I've got a bid on a Famicom Micro solely because its mint and cheap. Should lose. The screen is too small for me. SP is great but a bit crampy.
Pang: Only way that's getting done is with a mega expensive crowd fund. The demand is too small.

For a backlight that is. There are frontlight mods but they inevitably suck.

Wow, if you want to be the next STV buy up Famicom Micros on YAJ and flip them on eBay. 100% profit.

Pretty hard to get a fair comparison pic. In person it’s really hard to tell the 101 apart from the chongochong.
Any colour difference is down to the viewing angle.

SP 101 has two brightness settings. My modded OG is about equal to the darker one. You can install a voltage selector (included on the more expensive cables) but I didn’t bother.
I did a ghosting comparison vid a while ago too. No difference. Exists on both.

Re: Wanted: Game Boy Advance (modded with backlit screen)
Ghosting on a legit 101 is pretty bad imo. I can’t play SM games on it
Castlevania is fine. Anything fast paced is better suited to the micro

I don't recall any ghosting on any of the 101s I had.

Nintendo Preds.
I see the ghosting. I think black outlines on something like Super Mario Bros 3 show it up the most. It doesn’t bother me too much though. Imo it’s worth the bigger screen and more useable d-pad (to me), while the micro is awesome for its pocketability and the better screen is a bonus.

Re: Game Boys
Looks like average GBA price is about £15 posted. Going to have to buy a bunch of backlit screens
