I spread bid on stuff and let it all run.

Beyond that, the nostalgia bug has been biting me for years.

How long does the battery last on a modded og GBA? The SP is probably one of the few console's that I've spent considerable life on. But yeah, the ergo is just too crampy.
Wouldn't mind trying a screen modded GBA fat if the battery life is good.

That's good to know. So Nintendo's horrible non lit screen took as much power as a lit one!

Which video?

It’s really not bad. I thought the tricky bit was going to be scraping off a plastic ridge where the screen sits but it came off easily with a craft knife. Aside from that it was plug in the new screen and solder one wire.

[edit] I probably misunderstood your last post. You mean a video on spotting bootlegs?

It's soldered to the ribbon end, you still need to solder one joint to the motherboard.

You can buy a pre-modded GBA (with replacement shell and buttons - "refurbed") from China for £65.
The backlight kits alone are around £30 shipped. You can maybe skim a quid or two off buying the ribbon cable and screen separately, without the generally included tri-wing & lens.
Replacement shells are under a tenner.
I'm picking up GBAs sub £20

I imagine you're less likely to get done by customs on a kit than a pre-mod, but if you're not fussed between OEM/bootleg shells there's not a large cost benefit to DIY vs just buying a pre-mod.

Buy a bootleg and transplant it into a legit shell.

Also, ninja five-0 is brilliant. It feels like an arcade game

You've still got to do the awkward plastic trimming part of the mod, and then you end up with a spare original mobo + screen that won't fit into the bootleg case...
