PS2 NTSC-J playing on a PAL plug!

Post by whitecomet »

Ok so I'm currently awaiting delivery of a Slim PS2 NTSC-J (Model SCPH-70000).

So from reading on the internet the SCPH-70000 models can be used with a 3 pin plug, however the SCPH-90000+ had a built in power supply so need a stepdown.

Can anyone confirm is this is correct?

I can't remember how many pins the connector has, but if you have an UK PS2 Slim PSU, it will work on the JPN unit.

I've got a USA slim, model no. SCPH-75001 (power supply SCPH-70100)

The Power supply is like an external laptop supply, rated for 100-240v.
Sounds like yours should be the same, so a uk 3 pin plug will be fine 8-)

Ahh, it's a multi voltage PSU, I forgot about that.

Check the label before plugging it in, but if it's rated up to 240V, you're good to go!

You would think the PSU in the SCPH-90000 would be multivoltage then too?

So got a couple of photos of the power supply and the console itself.

So do I use the JAPANESE power supply with a UK figure 8 plug, or should I plug a UK transformer in?

You can just connect a regular UK figure 8 lead.

What the above posted said, You don't need to do anything. Just plug and play! (Coming from another UK member with UK, US and JP PS2 slims.)

Why dont use PS2 FAT? It's better with HDD internal.
