Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
This place is Cash Converters in the U.K. The people who sell their stuff there are either feeding a habit or are seriously hard up. He often gets me games out of there at a price of pennies. Some great Master System games. Had about 100 Ps1 games off of him for £5spmbx wrote:I wasn't aware that STV had a physical store now too.NeoRetro wrote:...
There are some bargains to be had though. My mate runs a pawn shop and some guy came in with his Sega Saturn and Shining force 3 and asked for a price. Mate phoned me and asked what it was worth. He offered the guy £5 and he took it.

Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
This is why I don't collect retro stuff any more. All the best games are hideously expensive. Even the rubbish games go for more than I'd be comfortable paying for them.
I sold on my PC Engine and Saturn setups last year because all the games I wanted were way over £100 apiece. Madness.

I just checked prices for Guardian Force and nearly had a baby! 150 quid! Jesus! I remember buying this 10 years ago for 20! And it's not even that good!

Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
I have a Saturn, SNES, Megadrive, N64,Dreamcast and a PS3 that can run ps1 and ps2 games. Saturn is my beloved child of them all, but here in Europe, only 700 000 saturns sold. This is why prices of the games are so high and common games like Torico, Swagman or Mortal Kombat Trilogy become holly grails.

Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
I picked up a nice boxed Japanese White Saturn with 30 games for 3,000 YEN even adding SMJ fees and sea freighting it back to the UK the total was only about £50.
I'll probably sell the games and get a Rhea installed.

Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
Anyone know what a fully working Japanese SEGA Saturn with a Psy-Q dev kit port (VGA style) on the side is worth these days?
Unfortunately I don't have any of the associated gubbins that plugged into the dev kit port, so I just run it as a regular Japanese Saturn

SS is just pure madness these days.
Still remember the sweet days, when I bought a Batsugun for 25 GBP (2008-2009'ish)

Because I grew up with them and I like those long boxes . I collect Saturn games from all regions because I have a 50-60 Hz switch and an Action replay that bypasses the region lock

Re: WTF happened to Sega Saturn collecting
Speaking of the sega saturn, does anyone know of a proper guide with illustrations of how to bend the cart slot pins back into place? I've read several descriptions of what needs to be done, and gave it a go this weekend. I obviously did something wrong, as the saturn will now not boot unless there is a cart in the slot. And with cart in slot, it will not recognize it. I'm assuming I've got some of the pins shorting, but before I dig in again, I want to be clear on what my goal is. Even just a hand sketch or something marked up in paint, from someone that has successfully serviced their cart slot pins, would be a help.
Also, anybody know of a replacement slot, that is not out of another Saturn? I haven't had much luck searching for one, and assume they don't exist, but figured if they do, this group would know.
