It's a shame about the heavy filtering on Wii U NES games as the SNES games are great. $60... I'll definitely buy this as long as they change their minds on how NES games should look in HD.
Off the shelf emulation boxes that actually work well are a rarity, if they exist at all. I've used emulators for 20 years but I'd still find an official plug and play package like this very appealing. I just hope they do it right.
It'd be my first NES (except that it's not a NES). I was never actually a Nintendo Kid.
Those would be my thoughts too if I was to dismiss the zero setup time, the legal roms, the first party controller and cute little casing - the things about it that I like.
It's priced below the 'meh, just build your own' threshold imo.

Literally about 10 mins work to throw together a RetroPie system for NES stuff and have it running scanlined etc, and with the added bonus of being able to play other systems and other NES games as well.
Price is okay considering the cost of Pi+case+cables+SDcard+controller but the BYO is so vastly superior about the only thing going for it is the cute case factor IMO.

I bet this was due to incorrect shutdown i.e just turning the pi off without shutting down the software. As a whole it's a pretty reliable bit of kit, your pc would do the same if you just flicked it off at the switch evey time ...
"Yeah lets all get ponys instead, wait no lol trendy cabs" Err I think you meant Ponies didn't you ?
I have seen quite a few friends show a massive interest in this and I for 1 cannot see the appeal. I think a lot of people are going to expect it to look as good as it did in their memories, not knowing that up-scaled on a 40"+ tv will look absolute garbage. HDMI out so definitely some sort of up scaling going on, I'll be interested to see how it looks.
