I do not feel the need to drag discussions down to a personal level. There is nothing to gain by desperately, twisting and turning minor details to eventually come up as the "winner" of an argument on these boards. And i agree RedKnight that is totally what's going on there.

That link was quite interesting but Christ, what does compare well to SFIII? It was drawn painstakingly by possibly the world's best and most experienced sprite artists when they hit their peak! A few years earlier, SFII contained plenty of iffy animation to pick at. It blew everything away at the time though.

SFIV could have looked a lot better, but I still can't see the big difference in V. Same mold, slightly better paintwork, bigger tits.

The most illuminating look into the core issues behind this kind of animation appearance and some of the production challenges /choices involved are actually best illustrated in the 2015 gdc xrd talk:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yhGjCzxJV3E

Sf3 was a spectacular production that used 3d bases in a similar fashion to kof later on. Kof however used them more extensively and made some production and artistic choices which were poor and counter intuitive to contemporary expectations. Both of course eventually resulted in cracking games but also unconvincing production schedules and commercial challenges (see sf3 new gen and kof12).

Despite its impressive refinements and obvious heritage I don't know whether there's as much vision and passion going into the production of sfv as arksys put into xrd... no matter how good a game it ends being (or how frankly fun the sf source material could be) I'm worried it's still going to feel like a bit of a missed opportunity.

I've no idea what's going on with kof. It looks like they've just lost all the charm and humour that attracted me to that series while trying to emulate sf and Tekken.

The guy has the belly for Hugo, but the other guy doesn't have the male chicken for Poison. Cosplay fail.

Leyou Technologies Holdings (I could be wrong with the company name) happened. Seems like they're just releasing whatever assets they have left over or newly created until they figure out if KOF is going to be a mobile or F2P game.
Majority of the popular games in China are F2P so that would come to no surprise if they took KOF and other beloved SNK franchises and followed suit with the norm.

Annoying character. Think whoever's in charge of these new characters has lost their sense of humour...

You must really be a 3rd strike fan. I hoped for more of the " unusual " 3rd strike characters in v. Imagine doing x copy to finish off your opponent with their own move they have been spamming!. Soo satisfying.
