You don't need to pay a penny, things just take a bit longer at the start. You won't miss anything at all not spending any real money.

Installed it, but getting The 40k gold to get in the clan system is looking like it will take a while!

Achievements and clearing up your site.

It's a bit of a slog, but the last to raids I've done netted 130k gold. You need to invest a fair bit of time, but I'm totally hooked.

2-3 days in the game, maybe 10 or so hours of actual playing.

My next town hall upgrade is 1,200,000 gold.
