I stopped playing sometime after 3:30, then couldn't sleep for an hour due to CoC overdose, then my alarm went off at 6.

Just glad I didn't oversleep and miss my first day back. This is definitely a game you could lose your job to.

All my current builds are 3 days+ so nothing to play for this week other than war. At least TH8 will have some cheap, quick builds

It gets easier geo. When you hit th7 you have 4 camps, 4 normal barracks and a dark barracks. When you raid with 200 lvl4 troops the gold and elix flows quickly.

I thiught 200k a brick would take forever, I only have 14 left to buy / 2.8m gold.

Total cost is 35,000,000 gold for Lv 7 walls. I managed it inside a week on the 1-gem boost barch raiding, at most 4 hours a day (about 1.25m an hour).

Lv 8 wall is 112,500,000 gold in total for 225 bricks, so a bit over 3 weeks (and 1,680 gems worth of boosting at the normal rate)

It's just the same thing at a different scale innit. I thought 1k per level 2 wall segment seemed ludicrous.

If you wanted to just straight up pay for Lv 8, then it would cost you 86,250 gems (£431). This is why you don't spend money on resources!

Never mind that there's still Lv 9 (1m a brick), 10 (3m) and 11 (4m) walls after that ...

Still haven't burned a single gem. Waiting until I have 500, then I'll probably put in another £3 for 500 more to get my 4th builder.

Forced coc hiatus for me atm, as I work Weds lunchtime right through to Thursday evening every week and the only device I have mobile data on is my Windows Phone. Really considering a cheap 3g droid tablet and a payg sim... :problem:

Trying my hand at war base building (th4), critique please 8-)

Basic idea being get all defenses and th inside the wall, to deny more than 1 star (hopefully).

I'd shove your base into one corner, make sure the clan castle is actually in the corner (it doesn't need to be walled in - only wall in your defences and TH). And stick a store or two into the opposite corner - they have massively more HP than the builder so will keep an attacking troop occupied for far longer.

Spring traps work better in wall gaps.

I used the builder simply because I didn't have enough wall for a larger building.

How about this?

I'll see if I can explain - Ross will likely do a better job (and correct me if I'm talking ****, I rushed past TH4)

During war your clan castle will be furnished with the best troops we can muster (likely Wizards). The enemy troops won't specifically target these (preferring buildings), so they get a good opportunity to do some serious damage to the attackers forces. Your castle troops will jump out when the attacking troops are within the castle radius.

See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv168ftEuN0"

At your level it's not possible to prevent this happening. So by shoving the castle and whole village near the edge you remove some of the distance troops can be lured without them being covered by your defenses as well. A side base means they might jump out quickly but they won't go far from the other defenses.

You can also centralize the clan castle. At higher levels this is essential, but at lower levels it's not as important - the troops inside will be your best defense mechanism so you want the attackers troops distracted by buildings as much as possible allowing your troops to deal with the enemy.

I thought all enemy troops aggro cc troops as soon as they have no preferred target?

Anyway your previous comment makes more sense now. 8-)

THe CC troops should have killed them before they are able to switch targets ;)

I just found an excellent tip. When you've finished playing, fill up your camps with your normal troops. Then queue the barracks full of wall breakers. When you start playing again cancel the wall breakers and get the elixir refund. This removes a good chunk of elixir from being available to attackers :)
