satellite reign (PC)
Who remembers Syndicate? Was one of the games I played hours on my A500 years ago.
Finally there is an awesome looking successor of the game:

Currently it's under development and was initialized as a crowdfunding game.
I'm playing the pre-alpha and just love it! feels like Syndicate with excellent Blade Runner cyberpunk feeling

Re: satellite reign (PC)
very interested in it... cautiously optimistic.
They need to cool tone that coloured lighting though to get back on the aesthetic track, and get back a bit of depth... leave the strong filters to the odd highlight or active police etc... looks like some 90s radioactive ooze...

God dammit, I really want this now... I'm never a fan of telling people how to make their own games, but really tempted to offer some armchair feedback on this one. Time to dip into that gog library to satisfy my syndicate addiction before I get the shakes!

Pretty excited by this. Blade Runner meets Syndicate
Syndicate was great on the Amiga.
I will be all over this when it is released.

Re: satellite reign (PC)
Syndicate Wars on PlayStation was best.
There were two features it had, which used the powerful features of PlayStation, which the PC didn't have at the time:
• You could see inside buildings when your agents went inside them (the buildings turned translucent).
• You could smoothly, continuously rotate the camera view through 360°, so you could view the level from any angle you chose.
That video demonstrates neither of those features and if the final game doesn't have them then it will be a step backwards.

Yeah i can still hear the voice and weapons samples in my head, the game itself hasnt really aged well though unfortunately so its not that great to play anymore. I hope they manage to capture some of the magic Syndicate had back in the day. and that the game will work better than their website, which is pants on mobile

Re: satellite reign (PC)
I only really enjoyed the Amiga port of Syndicate, the sequels (and original PC one) never thrilled me that much. Possibly the ludicrous slowdown when things got chaotic.
The PC version had all that as well. The move to 3D made an already not attractive (but visually distinct) game butt ugly. While it did remove some of the movement inadequacies the original had, I found the camera horrendous - the default zoom was too close. And such a drab looking sequel.Ultron wrote:Syndicate Wars on PlayStation was best.

Re: satellite reign (PC)
Agreed cools. Amiga version ftw.
I didn't like the updated graphics on the others.
If I remember correctly, I wanted to play it on the A1200 I bought but it ran at crazy speeds so I couldn't.
My one regret for upgrading

Think the original has aged fine; still my favored of the series for the atmosphere. There's some clunk - no transparencies and route finding not great but those are things that have always been there.theman wrote:Never played syndicate back in the day. How well has it aged?
Syndicate wars has probably aged less well for most people - still has it's own style and playable. Depending on your tastes you may find it more accessible though.
