Looks like it's coming out on PC, 360, and PS3 too.

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
Saw some gameplay footage and it actually looks a lot better than I expected. Still not a fan of the new hyper realistic anatomy with the gore, as I preferred the characters to be just filled with random bones and buckets of blood.
I also like the fact that you can pick from three styles for each character, but then again the roster looks so huge that this might get out of hand like how Tekken is nowadays. Bringing new characters in is such bold move and simply a great idea. Probably the best decision a developer can make when creating a fighting game these days, from a creative point of view.

The hyper brutality x-ray vision nonsense is really lost on me.
I'd take hit-sparks over arterial spray in a fighting game every time.

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
I'd put UMK3 in the top 20 best arcade fighting games of all time. Not near the top, but it's in there. Because of that I hold MK in somewhat high regard, even if all the games released after the best one have been ****. So, I doubt MKX will be even near as good (or even good) as UMK3, but it's still not OK bash and lump all MK games into one scapegoat.

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
A buddy of mine got to play a beta build of this at the GameStop conference in Sept and said it played amazing and the animation was butter smooth. I'm really looking forward to it, though nothing will ever top MK2 for me.

Who's next? Well, me, apparently. After seeing some of the newest videos for the new characters and noticing how the animations for the game show incredible improvements I'm now ready to give it a try.

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
I hate the X-ray stuff and the fatalities. Not a fan of the overall look either but I am curious. Not curious enough to pay to play it, though.crunchywasp wrote:Oh gawd it looks awful
We talked about MKX in the AO chatroom and came to the conclusion that NRS should make a non-gore version of the game in the DC animated universe style for the Wii U.

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
I really think the xray stuff is a gimmicky step too far, it was ok for a bit in 9 but drop it got old too quick and with the fatalities /brutalities it seems pointless and nearly makes them pointless. The brutalities seem to flow/ work better overall from what i've seen.
As for the look its a bit hit and miss , but what mk hasnt been, still agree that a dc style one could work with a bit of gore trk !

Re: Mortal Kombat X (PS4 / Xbone)
I think blood is fine and a bit of dismemberment here are there too, but gore involving ultra detailed guts and other organs is a nope.
Here are screenshots of the "Gold Scorpion" skin based on the kollector's edition statue that brought up the DC animated universe idea:

As you can see, this "skin" looks exactly like something from a DC animated show. The Bruce Timm influences are incredibly obvious, and WB owns both DC and NRS.
