Do you use protection?

Console, handheld and computer games, retro and modern.

Do you use [screen] protection?

I don't take any chances, and slip one on my chosen device.

Do you use protection?

Screen protectors: use or use not?

I don't like them and use my visual devices bareback.
I console myself thinking: "If Sony had intended my Vita to be screen protected, then either the screen is too delicate, or they would have provided Sony branded screen protectors."
Pretty much the same goes for old or new hardware. Pretty sure I've never scratched anything.
I do like a nice case for them though.

Nope, they take away too much clarity and end up looking like ****. I used a case for my gba and i almost never take ny vita out of the house. In the house i keep It in a pouch-like thing or keep It next To the bed

Yup, on everything. I may or may not use a fixed case: my phone has a TPU case, my 3DS and tablet do not (but both are transported in cheap cases/sleeves). My laptop has a screen protector plus a "full body" (it's not, it wouldn't protect corners at all) protector, and it's transported in a fancy zipped case as well - which goes into a backpack with a padded laptop section... The Nook just sits in the same case it was in when I got it.

Seems over protective when it's listed like that. Don't mind spending 1-2% of the items value to preserve 75% of its eventual resale value, plus I tend to carry around quite a bit of stuff crammed together so they would get damaged without some sort of casing.

Seen too much damage over the years from normal use (laptop keys rubbing on screens etc) to not do something.

Used to be really expensive to get decent screen protectors that didn't mudge up the image. Nowadays they're cheap.

Nah. Screen protectors go crappy and you have to keep replacing them. Glass screens have made them useless. My naked iphone4 has lived in my yucky pockets for over three years. I can see little scuffs in sunlight when the screen's off but so what, it's fine when it's on. Screen protectors don't protect from any proper damage. Big rubber cases do, but I'll take my chances. My iphone's non mintness has probably cost me £50 resale at most. Worth it.

They serve a purpose on cheaper items with plastic screens, but sod it they're cheap.

They're useful for children. Nath managed to scratch a DS screen to buggery playing Chibi Robo a few years ago, but now he's 11 he's more careful.

Just remembered another reason I use them - I dislike the feel of interacting with a slick glass screen surface.

I've got an old Xperia Mini Pro in front of me that's unprotected glass, and my Galaxy Nexus that is (with a decent protector - though not one of the fancy branded ones). Sliding my thumb or finger on the Xperia has what I can only describe as judder, even with really light pressure. Increasing the pressure gives more judder. On the Nexus I've no such resistance, it's perfectly smooth.

May just be my skin, but plastic definitely feels nicer than glass.

That's a good point. It feels especially weird trying to draw on glass. To draw at all I need to be the perfect amount of sweaty.

Capacitive touch screens are currently crap for stylus use anyway, but the better styli add resistance for this reason.

No protection on my phones or laptops, ever.

The only handheld console I have with a screen protector is my PSP 3000 where I feel it is unnecessary for myself, but when someone else handles it I am glad it's there.

Don't like them at all - looks awful -, but I understand why they do exist in the first place - my mother and my brother had their iPhone screens broken recently.

I would say, if you're dropper (like all my family apparently), go ahead and use them by all means. I'm the only one well coordinated here, I don't even remember the last time I dropped anything, so I don't bother.

Curiously, all my family uses glasses and I don't, so thankfully I'm probably adopted. 8-)

I never understood why people buy the new flashy-looking phone, only to encase it in rubber to 'protect' the shiny metal finish that they're never going to see.
