Xbox Live Arcade
This week, R-Type Dimensions
Price - 1200 MS Points (Booo )
R-Type Dimensions is the first game and R-type II packaged together (like R-Types on the PSone), online Co-op multiplayer, updated graphics with some weird screen tilting (you can still use the old sprites if you want though)

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
How much is 1200 points these days???
I may consider flogging the PS1 re-release version if this turns out to be worth the outlay...which I expect it will

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
Well I just got an R-TYPE pcb on saturday for £30, but annoyingly it died between playing it at the arcade ops warehouse and my house. I got it working for about 5 mins, but trhe sound was hooky, now it's garbled graphics. Grrr. Same with two other PCBS I bought actually, so god knows what happened. I bought 8 in total anbd most are fine.
Anyway, glad this has come out, I think I have some MS points to use up anyway, and I can try out the new arcade stick I made.

Was it difficult??
I'm considering moding my Hori EX2 soon but not sure where to start & I'm not very technically minded so think it may be beyond my means but would be nice to know if it isnt lol

Sanwa JLF plus sanwa buttons, set in plexi glass in a scratch built MDF case, wired to a 15 strand cable attached to a known pin out on a 15 pin dsub.Soundwave wrote:Arcade Stick??? Then I have a hacked joytech 360 pad in a seperate project box with a dsub socket.
This setup is ideal as I can just do a new project box for each pad/system I hack, so can always use the same stick.
No technically finished as I need to spray the stick case (radiator white), need better cp art as mine is ****-poor and I haven't finished hacking the pad yet (halfway through). I'll post pictures later.
Modding an EX2 with sanwa buttons etc is a piece off **** (even for me, and I'm clumsy as ****) - I did my brothers one at xmas.

Ta for the link as well, I'd actually seen that page earlier when I was looking, some great info there but I'm afraid even that will probably beyond my means
I really do suck at anything complicated lol
Thanks Funkster for the price info too...£10.20 is a **** load of money, might as well stick with my PS1 version then I think.

You could ask DJ Johnny G if he''s able to mod it for you as I think he does this kind of stuff.Soundwave wrote:

Just a shame he's up north postage there & back will make it more expensive but gotta be worth it in the long run.

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
I bought points just for this and the new Outrun.
There are a few worthy additions to the XBLA roster.
If you like shooters Omega Five by Hudson is worthy of your dosh/points

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
Thats only if you're buying the points cards at close to £18 though. You could get 2100 points for £12 recently and from that 1200 point games are £6.80theevilfunkster wrote:1200 - £10.20

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
And where can I get these cheap cards then?
Oh, R-Type Dimensions is really quite fantastic by the way. You can change between the new and old graphics mid game with the Y button, though the new stuff looks great as it is. All sorts of neat graphics filters and tons of options, very good indeed

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
There’s also a boy that sells live subscriptions, 13months for £25.
I’ll dig out the web address when I get home, or someone without a net nanny can nip over to AV Forums & get the web address from there?

This guy was selling them for £25 but the price has gone up a lot recently. Anyone know anywhere cheaper? I'll need to renew mine soon.
Also, anyone know the cheapest place for points?

Re: The Xbox Live Arcade Thread...
Had a few codes from Jasper in the past all codes delivered by email within a few hours. As for points I normally stock up on the from Zavvi and Tesco Jersey, they normally have them at some point in the year for around £13 for 2100. Shame Zavvi are going down the pan as they normally had the deal on every few months.Shady994 wrote:http://www.jasper1675.com/UKgoldcards.html
