Game Of The Year
What's been your highlight of 2012?
For me, it inevitably has to be Dodonpachi Saidaioujou which was a much needed return to straight forward yet uber-hard danmaku. It requires a lot of skill to even get far enough begin to score well yet manages to be extremely satisfying to progress at any level. Here's hoping Cave finish their 360 catalogue on a high with the port.
Halo 4 was my favourite console game of the year. A real spectacle and just as impressive to play. One of the best Halo's and all the more impressive considering it's the first without Bungie.
Journey was the only good reason to turn on the PS3 this year. That Game Company consistently apply the kind of artistic beauty to their games that we used to expect from Japanese developers, and Journey is their best yet.
F1 2012 was as close to being the perfect F1 game as I've played. Seriously exciting. Only let down by the tyre based confusion caused by the dynamic weather.
Other games worth mentioning were a lovely port of VF5 FS (finally!), Sonic Allstars Transformed, which despite running at a snails pace is jam-packed with SEGA awesomeness. Max Payne made a welcome return with some satisfying John Woo style action and a decent straight forward plot, which makes a change, and Mass Effect 3 rounded off the trilogy nicely with possibly the most epic instalment yet.

Retail console game - Halo 4
Downloadable - Fez and The Walking Dead
I'm really enjoying Sleeping Dogs but only just started it this week and I'm nowhere near finishing it.

This gets the best soundtrack award but you'd have to be some sort of genius not to get stuck and seriously frustrated at the game's structure and funny language problems.theevilfunkster wrote: Downloadable - Fez

Diablo III. It was a shadow of II for content, but I still sank 300 hours into it.

Super Hexagon. Draw Something.
I havent been motivated to commit more than 5 minutes to anything lately but Journey does look really nice.

Bad piggies was decent and probably the only game this year (bar Trials Evo) that I've sunk more than 2 hours in to.

First time in many a year that I had to get out a pen and paper and make notes.SuperPang wrote:This gets the best soundtrack award but you'd have to be some sort of genius not to get stuck and seriously frustrated at the game's structure and funny language problems.theevilfunkster wrote: Downloadable - Fez

**** Creed 3 was a let down. Only other thing I have played which was great was Borderlands, though that's not 2012. I have Borderlands 2 ready for Xmas day though which should be just as good judging by reviews, so I'mma go with that.

Assassin's Creed showed amazing promise, but it should have been one game. It was stretched too thin IMO.Devil Soundwave wrote:**** Creed 3 was a let down. Borderlands 2 is my GOTY, then again it's probably the only game I've really played all year
