I watched the Nintendo World Championships last night :whoopsie: live :hinthint: until nearly 3am :palm:

It was just a bit of promotional bumfun but I did feel slightly sorry for the hopeful competitors as they were quickly and quietly divided into finalists. It made me think how surprisingly decent the event could be if they made it more competitive and personal. ...and pre-disabled that annoying shoulder-button pause menu.

At least the two that scraped through to the end did turn out to be very decent players though.

Anyway, things suddenly turned great at the final. The bit starting at 5:00 (after the nintendipsters)...

Edit: Or rather 11:30.

Hopefully the amiibos are just a fun after thought for Mario Maker and not a necessity.

I'm probably going to get Star Fox Zero. It looks ace.

Certainly wasn't their best presentation was it? No surprise Nintendorgasms but still, there are four games I'm now pretty excited about.

I was already sold on Mario Maker basic but it's since exploded into something quite staggering.

The Zelda Tri-way thing looks like a much better multiplayer game than Four Swords.

Star Fox seems to be shaping up well. Not the greatest graphics technically but it's well styled, bold and colourful (very Arcady). Having two simultaneous cameras obviously lowers the Wii U's limits, especially at it's 60fps, but if that bothered me I wouldn't have a Wii U in the first place.

Yoshi games are a pretty consistent 7/10 these days. I'm sure this one will be no different, but **** me, it does look adorable this time. :whoopsie:

yeah totally agree , i havent watched everything but just some snipets form here and there.

but yeah Mario Maker :awe: really have been blown away at how this looks , i'm sure when i try and make something it'll be **** but it seems like a defo buy.

I'm Liking starfox so far ,its seems to have kept something that reminds me of the snes /n64 era (i think trk was Nintendorgasming for it ) :hinthint:

i havent seen the zelda tri-way thing yet :shifty:

Everything looked a bit "****, Zelda is delayed, rush some other stuff out" to me.

Can't argue with that.

Their game output has remained just as slow since the initial 'oops, HD is hard' delays.

I'm still not sold on starfox yet. Saying that, I'm hoping its going to prove me wrong. That Metroid game looked **** awful! It looked like a n64 game,And a bad one at that. I love Nintendo but I feel like they've given up on wii-u. I think they're putting all there energy into the NX now.

it has in fairness and although they have steadied the ship people wanted a bit more, saying that sony and microsoft are not much better in this department either at the moment.

Im not sure i get the hatred for the metroid game :eh:

It's always the way when they toy with a brand such as Metroid. Offence is taken by the fans. Like they've not been doing it since 1980.

I think it's more that they make a new game and then sign it with Nintendo characters. Cases in point - Mario Kart, Smash Bros and about 200 other games. Even Mario's main series (if that still exists) could just as well have been Magic Castle 64, Squirty Sid Sunshine, and Space Bunny Galaxy.

Then again, when Blastball is your one and only shock announcement it's going to be judged pretty harshly.

I wish they made "squirty Sid sunshine" :fastlove:

I'm not a massive Metroid fan. But I just think blastball looks awful. Like a game you'd get free with a Packard bell back in the day!

Splatoon's ace. Despite being essentially a third person shooter it's packed with original ideas, the controls are really slick and the sense of slipping and sliding around in viscous liquid is pretty cool. The baddies and bosses are great too.

I've only played the single player so far but am looking forward to multiplayer once I've had a bit more practice and some more folk join the jizz-fray.

bukakkewasp :whoopsie:

It is a great game. I've only played a few of the single player missions and had one online match but it's great fun. :)

Deffo up for some online games once my jizz technique is a little better. I'm guessing you changed from the motion aiming to using the sticks?

Excellenté :awe:

The first thing I done was to disable the lame motion controls. I've just had a blast online and it's great fun. It'll be amazing with friends :whoopsie:

I'm not sure what I was thinking though I'm certain that's how Nintendo would've written that sentence
