Digital Foundry's video on it is interesting. The tricks they pull to keep it running at 60fps.

+1 for Mario Odyseey, really enjoying it! Maybe not as much as the co-op / solo fun I had in Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U though.
Aside from the forthcoming Metroid, I can't think of anything else I'm looking forward to on the Switch though. Where's the portable vertical shmup love?

SMO: They've nailed swimming/underwater sections. Every game ever has had terrible swimming, until now.

Finally got a go on Mario Odyssey, once I pried it away from my kids for a couple hours. Great game, immediately immersive and extremely fluid gameplay and story line. I love the transition to/from 8-bit play as well, that is really an innovative inclusion.
I can see why the game is shooting to the top of every ranking list.

I dread to think how long they've been working on Odyssey. So much content and I'm only about 100 moons in.
Though I'm disappointed the city scene that I'd spent the year hoping for didn't happen. The festival bit was good but it could have been downright amazing.
Kept the sensitivity raised though.

I ended up changing the horizontal camera control back to normal. I prefer "reversed" (where pushing left circles the camera to the left like in Mario 64) when the camera's behind Mario but the setting also applies to every time you use the right stick. Trying to aim a tank was getting stupid.pubjoe wrote:Have you tried reversing the x-axis and setting sensitivity to very high? I just realised you could do this and much prefer it this way.

Forget 4K HDR, if you want to show off an OLED TV, pop on the Luncheon Kingdom. My meat is twitching alright.

Re: Super Nintardbros!
BOTW instantly went into my top games ever list. SMO surpasses it. It doesn't have quite the same breathtaking sense of scale and beauty, but the sheer imagination and variety on display is second to none.
It's a thoroughly modern game - big rather than replayable - my only complaint is that some of the checkpointing is brutally punishing. The "story" part of the game might be pretty easy however there's a ton of challenge outside of it.

Re: Super Nintardbros!
Nintendo really need to start allowing you to save to the cloud or an SD card. It's mental that you can't. Tried to switch my console on with the controller today, nothing happened. Pulled it out of the dock, light from the screen but the only response I could get was from the power button and the "Power Off" function wouldn't work. Googled it to find that holding power for 12 seconds forces a shutdown and that fixed it. Squeaky bum time though and not for the console but the many hours of BOTW and SMO.

Re: Super Nintardbros!
It’s completely ridiculous that you can’t save to the cloud or whatever. Having content tied to the console is backwards too. I’d have bought loads of special edition 3DS/XL consoles if I could play all my content on them.

Re: Super Nintardbros!
Hmmm... This can't be a coincidence... It must be the new firmware because that crash happened to me today or could have been yesterday, not sure, because it was in sleep mode from Mario+Rabbids. Woke it up to play this morn and all I could see was the sleep or turn off screen except it didn't work.... Glowing black screen... Thought "wow that didn't last long". Of course google and 12 second power button press helped.SuperPang wrote:Nintendo really need to start allowing you to save to the cloud or an SD card. It's mental that you can't. I've had about half a dozen freezes like that. Started around Sonic Mania time.

If that gets a retail release I'll grab it. Mars Matrix/Radiant Silvergun alike?
