I bought the Pro Controller today in Sainsbury's for £35 more of a impulse purchase but will come in handy for Mario Kart when it comes out.

I saw the credits roll yesterday and am now on the extra worlds. I'm hoping there's some challenge to come as so far this is the easiest Mario ever. I finished the game with 60-something lives and only had to revisit two or three levels to make up the 170 stars for the boss. I'm honestly not trying to brag here, I'm really a pretty average grown-up Mario player. It is a joyous game to play though. I've never seen so much variety in level design.

That's a shame. Whatever you say about Nintendo, Mario games were one of the few series with a real feeling of skill these days. I hold hopes for the special zone. Most of Galaxy's difficulty was in the unnecessary levels.

A bit old news, but I thought it might be worth posting some positive Wii U sales numbers finally.

Glad the wiiu is doing better, but it seems weird that the next gen systems aren't released in Japan yet.

Me 3. I'll be getting it at the inlaws on boxing day ( :whoopsie: ), they have a Wii U but I'll save it until I get home a few days later so I can indulge myself.
So saved it for tonight....turned the Wii U on and Updating.... :problem:

So far it's taken 20mins to do 60% of the update. I swear Nintendos servers must be dog slow as updates always take forever. The updates can't be that big and I get a steady 5.5-6MB/s normally.

Can't wait for the inevitable update once I'm actually able to put the disc in :problem:

Has been getting plenty of play time here too and mainly just nintendoland! It's actually quite subversive, stuff like the ghost game and mario chase and stuff is just fun and everyone gets it and gets the appeal very quickly, without needing to like video games or even really thinking about the fact that they're playing a video game. The use of the gamepad is great and it really adds a fun dimension. So many ways to employ it to make fun new experiences, both co-operative and competitive. It's simple yet brilliant.

You've got to love Nintendo. They have the best first party games and they continue to innovate. If sales of the Wii U continue to make ground then I won't be surprised if the "proper" consoles end up following suit, just like the original Wii gave birth to Kinect and Move.

I take back what I said about Mario being easy. The extra worlds are suitably challenging :)
