Wtf?
Australian prices:
Wii U Basic Pack $299. (195GBP)
Wii U Premium Pack $379. (247GBP)

Bit more than that here. It was going to be cheaper but apparently the retail stores thought it was too cheap. It's £299.99 for the premium pack - I got it from amazon.fr for £265. I think the zombie pack is a bit more.

I should have said that those prices are not the RRP. I bet you could find it cheaper than £299.99 if you looked around.

The ability to have handheld gaming is purely an additional bonus.
Using the controller to add to the big screen gaming experience is a completely different aspect.

The Wii U launch is the least interested I've been in a console release in years. I might change my mind when there's a Mario Kart or something I guess.

Screen is better on the 3DS XL, but I think it looks **** than the original.
I think I would still take one over my original though.

I'm not big nintendo defender or anything, but it's not supposed to appeal to you, so it's no surprise it doesn't. Wii Mini isn't for people who own nextgen consoles, or even people who own a Wii. It's kinda like the PSP market atm, the only people still buying PSP and the value range games are parents who can't afford to buy something better for their kids. Because of the low price, the unit will sell fine, and the corners that have been cut just won't matter to that audience.

I am a Nintendo defender. It'll be a sad day once gimmicky games consoles die off and we're left with oh-so-serious one stop media hubs by Sony or Microsoft or (shudder) Apple.
Nintendo have gambled and gaffed regularly over the last 30 years. They're slightly insane and I love them for it. Their investors must be thrill junkies. Once they stop producing gaffes, they've lost their motivation.

That statement would have been so much better if it wasn't defending a cheap wiihash.

I really like the look of NSMBU and ZombiU but ATM it's too expensive for me to pick one up just to play those 2 games.

You could do what my mate did. He bought one, then put a brick and some other **** in the box, and took it back for a refund!!
