Going by Dogs of War and Leatherneck, Steve Bak had pretty low standards where art was concerned. He couldn't possibly have looked at either of them and thought they looked well, surely?
Dogs of War looks as though the futuristic Gatling gun thing was added as an afterthought, but atleast that boy's gun has a grip, unlike the boy in Leatherneck

I love how the gun is just 'there', while the guy strikes a pose to show off his biceps - which, ironically, is covered by the gun.
