I had a lot of love to give the Speccy before the C64 came along. I only had the 48k, but when I got my C64 I did laugh at my mates who's parents had bought them the 128k or CPC464 hohohoho :awe:

I'm glad I was never bought the Amstrad console thing   I wouldn't even buy one as a retro treat

Now.... What was everyone's joystick of choice during the commodore era? :awe:
Great question! The ones that came with it always broke with Decathalon type games...

I really liked some stick with a green body, pink stick  , and yellow buttons. It had a steel shaft and was ace back then.

Everyone I knew had a QuickShot of some description

Yeah, the C64GS was a heap of **** too. I remember being really excited when I discovered my C64 could play carts though.

I used the speed king, best joystick ever! Red and black style that was held in palm of hand.

+1 for the speed king. Loved it, but it was so different that it took some time to get used to.

I read something about the development of the Speed King in a magazine recently.

I always avoided it to be honest - I thought it was gimmicky and never realised it was actually any good!

A good conversion that hasn't been mentioned is Marble Madness on the Amiga.

I never played the arcade or Amiga versions but I liked the Game Boy version for what it was!

Ahh! Powerplay Cruiser! That was it. Memories flooding back... :awe: I **** loved this thing and it was built like a tank. I just remembered looking at the pic that it had a rotatable collar at the base of the shaft to make it stiffer  sexy

I could never use a SpeedStick as the handle disables use of your left hand for the joystick. I could never shake the arcade panels I played from '86 and forward, that's probably why I never thought home ports was any good. Playing Rygar without a dedicated jump button is stupid IMHO. The only home port for c64 where jumping with the joystick felt OK was Bubble Bobble. :|
