SF HD hands-on /first impressions/mini reviews

Post by John James Pacinelli »

:awe:

Anybody in the U.S. and A. got SFHD? If so could you please post your first impressions/mini review here?

To start off:

1)Can you describe the option menu (dip switches, if you can select the old sprites, 4:3, etc etc)?

HAARGH! It's official you cannot select the old sprites for the backgrounds, only for the charachters... why ffs??? I would have loved to play with the old sprites and the new remixed gameplay. Big mistake Capcom.

I didn't consider the different time zone :awe: it's 2:31 MP here and 1:31 AM in NY... What time is this game supposed to be released in the US anyway???

Why did this warrant a new topic?

IGN's review

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/932/932803p1.html

I am disgusted. This review is absolutely superficial, it's like the author had not played the game. Shame on you Mr. Gayan Dements.

The previous one was for release date / price. This one would be for hands-on reviews.

Sei il mio idolo :awe:

I just thought I'd be nice to have a separate thread for the first impressions and comments. Who's gonna be the the first one to get SFHD in this forum? :awe:

I have a feeling it won't be up until late this evening UK time actually so it might be tomorrow until I sample it.

uhm, I dunno what to say, its super turbo haha, purists will either love or hate it.

since it was free, I'm in the middle.

online seems hmm, I dunno a pain to get in matches sometimes and no-one uses a headset, but I was taking people apart with guile earlier, like badly . 10-0 streaks

maybe some specific questions...

1)How do you find the graphics? (Good/bad, out of proportion characters etc.. )
2)Who does the 16:9 thing is working out for you? Does it effect the gameplay? Do you prefer 4:3?
3)Can you confirm you cannot select the old sprites for the BG?
4)Is it true that the CPU AI in remixed mode has been dumbed down?
5)Overall, how do you find the gameplay in the remixed mode? Acceptable also for purists?
6)If you pause the game can you access a list of on screen command moves?
7)Tried the new Zangief moves with no freaking 360? Feels good? :awe:
8)How's the online? They say its kinda laggy...

1) graphics are overall very good to me, I'd say an 8/10, some dodgy bits I guess, sprites are huge on my 32" LCD
2) not bad, I'd rather it fill the screen, you don't really notice
3) Don't see an option for it , but then I don't see an option for old sprites either, haven't really looked, it looks nice enough as it is :awe:
4) uh, I dunno only played a quick couple of fights
5) mm its ok, some weird choices, I'll probably play on classic mode I think mostly
6) yes
7) I just pull 360s anyway and it works
8) depends, people are complaining like hell about it, but its fine for me, hosting or not

Plays just like super turbo, no complaints from me, just played a friend and he has a mean guile, it was so close but he beat me to 10 in the end, definitely the best matches I've had on there.

Very well. Just one thing:

10) when you play online can you choose either mode or it has to be remixed?
