Cave Akai Katana Shin Xbox 360

Post by George »

Not sure if this has been linked already apologies if it has, but thought it might be of some interest to 360 console owners also.

Heard a demo was up on marketplace not sure what region though as i havent had time to check but i will :)

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japan ... ana/713495"

Edit Just to update people i couldnt see a demo on the pal region for akai-katana, so for us 360 owners looks like a region locked shooter @_@ on a lighter note any Bangioh fans will be happy to know there is a demo up, and the father of strider has his new game moondiver up in demo form also, bit off topic i know but while im typing and all that

Just downloading the demo now.... it's easy to set-up a Japanese account and gain access to 1 months free GOLD trial to access this demo download.

Verdict on port (arcade version): it's very nearly spot on - the slowdown isn't quite as extreme as the PCB but it's close, in all the right places and with no nasty jump out of crawl. More than acceptable for score comparisons.

Zetsu mode is bloody brilliant - 16:9, stereo sound version of the arcade mode.

I've had a few days with this.

I've never played the jamma version, but it seems like the best home port Cave has ever done. Art is beautiful, music is rocking, tons of modes and options.

16:9 Shin mode is hands down the most gorgeous 2D shooter I've ever seen. If only every hori shooter could have this treatment...

I'm currently playing arcade mode in 4:3 on my cab and will move onto the 16:9 modes once I max my score out.

A must have game for sure, one of Cave's finest and hopefully this is what Deathsmiles III in 2D could look like on a home system.

Arcade mode looks great on a cab, too:

Anyone getting weird cut outs in the sound every now and then especially at the start and end of levels? Seems to be only in shin mode so far.

They must just do their testing in mono! Dolby digital is their enemy.

I'm leaning that way also. LV would whip its **** if they hadn't chosen to slow the bullets when they touch energy. Bad call.
I haven't played Shin, or any of the port a great deal though. I think I've overdosed on AK already.

4:3 stuff looks stupid on the Lindbergh so Zetsu is where it's at.

Also, I'm struggling to notice huge differences in terms of how Zetsu plays versus Arcade... Not enough to worry about.

Playing Deathsmiles 2 X and Ibara mainly at the moment though.
