Re: Sturmwind - Another Dreamcast shooter
It looks more Soldner X than Fast Striker. I thought Soldner X2 was a nice looking game, but was boring to play for score.
I'm all for these indie shooters, people should take a cue from Fast Striker, it is an awesome game which is really fun to play for score in any of it's modes.

IMO Fast Striker is gash.... Certainly compared to Last Hope.
We all have different opinions though.

baaah, don't be so anal. Personally, I like the japanese cabs for their top quality parts, versatility, pleasing aesthetics and sit down design. It's awesome for playing tons of games, not just Japanese made ones.emphatic wrote:Euro shmup + Japanese cabinet = even for me.codecrank wrote:I pre ordered it. Will be awsome in my blast city
besides.... those euro cabinets are hard to find...

I'm way liberal on what goes where (oh-eer) but I'm just not sure the game will play as well as it looks.codecrank wrote:baaah, don't be so anal.

The company responsible for the CD pressing has gone tits up.
I suspect it will be sorted fairly rapidly.

Re: Sturmwind - Another Dreamcast shooter
The last time a European developer made a good arcade shoot 'em up was erm.. well erm... probably around the early to mid 80s and even then they were few and far between. In terms of arcade shooters in the time when Taoplan were creating some fantastic games, what did the west offer since the late 80s in arcade shooters? Xenon and bloody Sidewinder (Arcadia System) bet the Japanese were wetting themselves laughing.
Last Hope look like a poor Amiga game and played like a poor Amiga game. Pink Bullets just felt like a "We made a crap game the first time around and you bought it, so we thought we would tweak it a bit and make you buy it again. Thanks!"
Dux looks like someone who was colourblind drew the graphics and played like a poor Amiga game.
Fast Strikker was prettier and better but still played like an Amiga game, it's above average but compared to shooters on the DC (and even Playstation and Saturn) it would be something to miss.
Personally have no faith that Sturmwind will be any better, just cause it is a independent game on the Dreamcast does not mean people should forget about the game or polish, there are tons of free (or cheap) (japanese doujin) shooters on the PC which normally pass water from a great height over what the west do.
