Platinum here means pcb. So they made they're own chassi. That's pretty hardcore.

Ah cool, wasn't sure what they meant by that. I've gone and done a total 180 on these and now want one

No way, it has a CRT made by Sharp in there? Hmmmm… starting to look mighty tempting. Just wish the control panel wasn’t so derpy looking or it would be an instant buy for me.

Re: I received today...
I wonder is it a case of them having access to some Sharp 14 inch portable TV tubes which they made a new chassis for?Kamiboy wrote: November 20th, 2024, 1:57 pm No way, it has a CRT made by Sharp in there? Yeah if they shaved a bit off that control panel depth...
Am I right in reading that the blue hood is made from steel rather than plastic?

Re: I received today...
I'd think 1700 is already a lot of money for an original cabinet, but for an off-spec imitation it seems quite excessive?

Re: I received today...
Consider that there is a genuine Neo SC-14 for sale right now on eBay for 22.000€, and suddenly 1.700€ seems like a real bargain.
Besides, I am sure there is a lot of manual labour involved in building one of these, so the price is not bad actually.

Does the 22.000 include an mdf board?

The 22k includes an Aero Fighters 3 MVS cart, swift kick to the nuts and hand signature by Dion Dakis under the control panel

I usually pay a lot more to get kicked in the nuts so this is a bargain.

Re: I received today...
There is no way they made their own chassis. It has to be a universal one that has been modified.
Doesn't mean it's poor or anything, but bespoke? No.

Damn you Pete I now find myself wanting one of the Vessel interchangeable bit drivers that I didn’t know about until nowPete wrote: October 4th, 2024, 2:02 pm I got this amazing Japanese market ratchet screwdriver with zero play in non-ratchet mode & very smooth in ratchet mode:

Excellent like all Made in Japan tools I've been building a good collection of recently.
I also have the Vessel version for bits:

Go for it!
I use my Japanese tools at work & they are so much better than the crap we sell here.

Re: I received today...
They certainly look well made and people seem to rate them so I think I will, I need something with longer reach than the iFixit set I have (which is also great).

It's funny I use Japanese tools on Chinese & now Ireland (Waterford) built gaming (fruit) cabinets certainly makes the job easier than the Amazon crap the company gave me.
The Bahco socket set they gave me is ok though.

Re: I received today...
I have a couple of JST drivers, a necessity for Japan cabs.
The little dot on the screw head marks it as JST, in my experience anyway.
For general tools I use Knipex & Wera. Bahco socket sets are great too, bought mine from Buck & Ryan Tottenham Court Rd.
That was a great tool shop just a few doors away from Casino arcade.

Re: I received today...
lmao, yeah you're likely correct. Chinese manufacturer that goes the extra step above and beyond to engineer a custom chassi for a stock of nos tubes? Riiiiight. what was I thinking?nem wrote: November 22nd, 2024, 4:23 pm There is no way they made their own chassis. It has to be a universal one that has been modified.

Rather than derail this thread I’ll post a thread of its own on how the artwork might be saved…
