NAC Refresh

Post by clarkey »

Few pictures of the refresh of my NAC.

As I got her, looking very sad and smelling very unpleasant.

Image

Starting to strip it down.

Image

Side art had seen better days sadly, the whole case was covered in scuffs and scratches.

Image

MMMM JDM grot.

Image

All the metal was stripped out and given a good polish.

Image

All the doors and trim were in a sad state so went off for powdercoating.

Image

Pressure washer time, grot removal.

Image

Squeaky

Image

Scrubbed the loom, nearly a whole packet of wet wipes.

Image

Wish I took a picture of the chassis before cleaning, was like a birds nest of dust hair and stale smoke. Came up well.

Image

Started rebuilding, looking much better.

Image

Powder coating done, really pleased with the color match and quality.

Image

Image

Adjusted the coin mec to take 100 yen again and put it back together.

Image

Image

Next step was applying the new side art and sanding the control panel painting and applying new art. I didn't get pictures of all of this but will share the finished ones shortly.

Nice work! Would you do it all again if you got another?

I did a full breakdown and heavy cleaning on my first New Versus City.... the second one... I decided I didn't mind the scuffs and scratches

Super smashing great work :) I agree with you, half the fun is cleaning them up and making them smile again

I know it's a guilty pleasure. I have the parts to build a 1L6B panel in neon green, minus the panel!

Nicely done, only thing I don't like is the sideart, you should have kept the original stickers, I can't see the point in having a "scratch free" cabinet, its an arcade machine FFS!!

Sometimes i would agree but the sideart was toast on this. I will be trying to get somescreen printed side art at somepoint to get the neon back.

Does anyone know a good source for repros of the black lock stickers and safety warning for the coin mech door?

Ta everyone else for comments.

Very nice. Did you repaint the speaker section or was it that white already?

Each too their own. There is no way I'd let a beat up cab sit pride of place in my living room

It's been painted, would have been a nice shade of caramel if not.
