unpopulated header on PFX chassis
Does anyone know what the empty connector in the pic below is for ?
Maybe for a remote degauss switch or to get into the service menu perhaps ?
Is it connected on the US PFX's ?

Re: unpopulated header on PFX chassis
Remote degauss for sure.
On the namco mounting brackets, in the AC 4 pin plug, two of the 4 wires run there, and are for degauss. I wired this into my New Astro's degauss switch, same effect as degaussing from the remote board.

Re: unpopulated header on PFX chassis
Thanks.
I managed to stumble into the service menu ONCE !!
I can't replicate what I did as I'm not sure exactly what I did to invoke it, but it is pressing a combination of buttons on the remote when powering on the monitor.
There are some extra functions for OSD positioning, colours, linearity, zoom, moiré, degauss settings and something I suspect relating to sync but yeah haven't been able to get it back again. I wish I had taken a picture.

Did the service menu look something like this
I'm opening a new thread with how to access it, so it doesn't get lost in this one.

Re: unpopulated header on PFX chassis
Hold down "DEGAUSS" on the remote board when powering on the monitor and once powered on press "FUNCTION".
Perhaps we should start compiling all PFX info in a thread or a page in the AO wiki :

Yes, this one is connected on the US model:neokoen wrote:Does anyone know what the empty connector in the pic below is for ?

White, grey and green are L, N and E - blue and brown go to the mentioned connector - it's hard to tell from the picture, but the wires are actually much thinner than the power wires. On one hand - it pretty much seems like this will trigger the degauss - on the other hand, I am to scared to break anything to just short it and see what will happen : / Then again, I really want to wire the manual "demag" button in the Net Cities inside tray... : /
Do you know how to crimp / solder?Cell247 wrote:Ive been tryng to get PFX info together for months. I still cant figure out how to get in connected into my US Net City. But thats for another thread. Good info on the menu!

Re: unpopulated header on PFX chassis
Yes, I can crimp and solder. So I need cut off this connector:
Find a female plug that will go into this:
Anyone know where to buy one?
Then I see your layout of the 5 wires for the 5 pin connector to the PFX. What about the rest of the wires? Are these to wire up the controls on the front of the PFX?

Re: unpopulated header on PFX chassis
If you want to track it down, you need a Tyco/Amp Universal Mate n Lok 5 pin male connector (no Mini Mate n Lok) and the required male pins of course. If you have no luck in finding them, I can sell you some. The original connector has power (live, neutral, ground) as well as Degauss ( + and - ) and I also guess it has RGB in it? You have to find out which one goes where - the 5 pin is L N E (white = LIVE, gray = NEUTRAL and green = EARTH) plus 2 unknown inputs which we are wondering about in this topic...Cell247 wrote:Yes, I can crimp and solder.
