Hey there,
New to the killercabs crowd. Found my way here via shmups forum. Sorry to beg for help on my first post, but...
I just brought an Asteroid Deluxe cab home that has a bit of a problem. It plays and sounds fine, but the display has an issue. It's not unplayable, but not right either. The display alternates ~1cm horizontal dark and then light stripes down the entire length of the display, meaning when an object(asteroid, ship, whatever) is being drawn in a dark stripe it is dimmer and when it's in a light stripe - it's drawn brighter. It appears that when part of an object is drawn in a "bright" stripe, the lines of the object are distorted, or drawn in the wrong direction. Sorry for the poor description, I can try to post a pic if needed, but I'm not sure how well it will show up... Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Asteroids Deluxe (possible) monitor issues
Oh. Also, not entirely sure it's a monitor issue. Could be the board? I do have a multi-meter and logic probe if you need any measurements to diagnose... Thanks again!

jamma+ has a good bunch of fellas that know their stuff on the older games

Hopefully Grant will be able to help you, but as he says some of the Jamma+ blokes are good with vector monitors. Both in replacement parts and knowledge. Another option if you struggle.

Re: Asteroids Deluxe (possible) monitor issues
i really cannot tell if thats a board fault or a monitor fault, never worked on vector chassis as i am far too young
the fellas at jamma+ are the best bet on this, this really is their specialised area
i do know vectors throw up what looks like graphic errors and i do know they suffer from very bad solder connections

Yeah, I've heard that cold/bad solder is a very common problem on AD's for some reason. Thanks for the tip on jamma+. I'm actually registered there already, I totally forgot about it...
