Toshiba 6643

Post by radiantsvgun »

I have two of these chassis that need repair. I would like to try to repair them instead of sending them out.

First one was displaying a bleeding picture, changed all caps including the filter. Worked for a little bit and then went into vertical collapse.

Second I received as-is, no picture, but does sound like its getting power. I plan to start with caps on this one, but most Toshibas I recap always seem to have another failure after a recap.

Any ideas on where to start? Repairing Toshibas is a new area for me.

Found it, it is the LA7838. It is in an awkward spot but I should be able to manage. I will order some and let you know how it goes.

For some reason this chassis blew both replacement I/Cs.

I'll be sending that one out, the other I will start with a full recap, and order more I/C and some HOTs.

Follow up:

I had these repaired by a shop-

First one- some mylar caps had gone bad, and needed HOT and IC.

Second one- needed caps, IC, HOT, and reflow in some areas.

Thanks for the update. I've got three of these chassis and the only one that works is in dire need of some TLC.

May I know what are the mylar caps wich were replaced? Those caps usually not fail but if they are done can cause lots of damage.

I've reached back out with no response so far. They told me the ones that were bad were split in half- so they had physical damage.
