Nanao MS9-29 (05A00675C1) horizontal collapse

Post by frsj8112 »

Last of the three problematic chassis I have on the workbench.

First diagnosis: starts up with what looks to be a somewhat horizontal collapse

Did a recap and reflowed some areas.
I've replaced the LA7853

Still it's in horizontal collapse.

Any ideas @grantspain @PrincessPrinPrin ?

Cheers

thats a strange fault, if you increase screen volts is the entire screen affected or only that small area?

The whole screen gets brighter and retrace lines are visible all over the screen.

Ok have tried the monitor with another gameboard and without a gameboard. Still the same type of collapse.
I've done theses things as well:
Replaced the Mitsubishi M51387P but still no difference.
Tried with another known working remote control board, no difference.
Moved the width jumper from normal to wide, no difference.
Toggled the Horizontal Hold 15kHz, no difference

On the remote control board, when dialing in the horizontal position pot, the column moves horizontally.
When dialing the horizontal width pot, nothing happens.

Too bad that the MS9 schematics are of such poor quality :(

Does pincushion adjustment work? Horizontal size limit (VR452)?
Im running games with a vga to tv converter on my Shangai Novel, with composite and it looks amazing, Im not interested in RGB or Scart.
