Astro City image lost

Post by yosinlpet »

Hi,

A few months ago, i was playing my astro city and noticed a misalignment of the image on the monitor. So i messed around a little bit with the chassis pots to get it centered. Unfortunately this process turned the image unstable and a total mess. After that, it has been impossible to stabilize the image even after trying different pots configurations, regardless of the pcb i booted the cabinet with.

Is it a current thing that has happened?
Did i destroy some component in my monitor? If so, does the fix require expert hands?

Thanks a lot for your answers, i'm so sad not being able to play anymore

EDIT: C911 cap was the guilty one! I did a full recap and now everything works fine!

Can you post a picture, or better still a video?

That probably happened because you've messed with the "H.H.15" and messed up the horizontal hold.

Try only that pot and see what happens.

I'm assuming you're using a 15khz PCB of course.

Try adjusting the HOLD pots. It could be that one is damaged or there's a loose connection with one of the cables.

Exactly, the logic is the same. It appears to be a HOLD problem.

Alright, this is what it looks like:

As explained in the video commentary, i managed to get a demo fight working, but as soon as the demo was over, the image vanished again...
I got it only once though. SSF2X gives me the most stable. Tekken 3 and Metal Slug 5 just yield a sea of pixels.

Rest of the time, the image is blurry as hell, much narrower than what the screen would normally allow.
