Going to cap my MS9-29 how to remove neck board?

Post by Ericthegreat »

Pulled monitor from my New Astro City and I noticed that the neck board is coved by a metal plate, what's the correct way of removing the chassis from the crt frame? Anything to worry about?

I got it, just unscrewed the protector and slid it off from the shorter side.

what's the correct way of removing the chassis from the crt frame?

The chassis is held on to the frame with a screw from underneath, with that removed the plastic tray should unclip. Disconnect all of the attached cables and the earth wires from the chassis, remove the black ground wire from the neckboard and then gently remove the neckboard.

Take care when discharging the tube and removing the anode cap. Also take note of as to which way the yoke is connected. Red/blue & yellow/brown. If these are put back wrong the image will be upside down/mirrored.

though not under the board

That's odd, all my MS9s are held in from underneath. Good that you've got it sorted.
