yeah sorry, its a MS8-29 tube Toshiba A68KJU96X, not the 26" Mitsubishi from Daytonas/Aeros, but the bad focus issue at the start is the same as in your 26" Mitsubishi.

Yes but on my case replacing chassis completely solved the slow focus on startup then not was the tube. Do not warry about... your tube will last more than any nasty LCDs on the market, just enjoy and in the mean time try to fnd a replacement.

As you said, this does not worry me too much, I can wait playing on another cab while this one heats up..I just wanted to know what may be causing this, maybe the same filth that grows within the neckboard socket pins gets to the innards of the tube.
