Hi all,
I owe a SANWA PFX monitor with chassis ref. PM1755C (mainboard M5333-M7 / Neckboard PC1023C M533-C6).
This PFX monitor was installed originally in my naomi cab bought NOS around 15 years ago in the UK (SEGA UK was emptying its stock of Naomi).
A couple of days ago, I noticed that sometimes the "synchro" showed some weakness : display was adjusted for a PCB but after turning off a while, I turned back on the cab and the same PCB display was not fitting anymore. Once, display was much bigger, so I readjusted again. Some days after much more tiny.
Around 10 days after, while running in 15khz with a PCB, I heard some noise (not loud so quite discrete) and the screen turned to black/no signal. I shut down the cab and a bit of smoke went out from the monitor location together with a burning smell.
I checked the PCB and the power supply : no sign of trouble.
Then, dismantled the chassis from the monitor : smell was Indeed coming from the chassis. Early after having turned off the cab, I noticed that a very big capacity had this smell of burning.
Later I noticed that a resistance was like partially burnt. No other obvious sign of Failure.
1/ Any idea of what happened ? I guess that resistance is just a part of the breakdown : do you think it is Worth trying to replace only resistance and try to switch on to give a try ? I mean : is there a risk of things getting worse ?
2/ If sent to someone for repair : Who can best handle failures with PFX chassis ? I am located in France near Paris but of course ready to ship to foreign country if I can find a "specialist" to take care of my beauty.
thanks for your kind feedbacks

It needs new capacitors. Sanwa really didn't use the best capacitors on their chassis.

You mean only a capkit and this assumed faulty resistance replacement could bring back the chassis ?
Thx
